hey cdreams, I would like to create some backgrounds, maybe you could give us a tutorial or something, I think a Mario theme would be awesome, also if you could create extra backgrounds with other colors, that would be insane, your designs rule dude

I am making a template with all the placeholders and buttons and stuff and it will be in a .psd file so you can take the layers and move stuff around where you want and add effects.

It means you can add whatever you want to the background layer and then place the placeholders and other objects over it.

All I have kept is the dimensions. The templates will be for both normal and widescreen, so you can choose based on your tv options.

I will be making a package consisting of the templates with some instructions and the Dark and Light versions of the ones I made for those that don't want to try making their own.

For example, backgrounds like these would be awesome:

@tommyv

I agree I like that idea of a background looking like a bookcase
smile.gif
With my template files you can do that easy. All you need to do is make the background like you have above and add the placeholders for the game boxes where you want them. You will also be able to use different icons for the settings page and stuff.

I have a question! Do you have to use Ciso 10 to use this loader. I had problems before where 10 was freezing my Wii and killed my Gamma. Which I still use because of the lack of other USB support.

Yeah it needs Rev10 to work TheWon.

It seems to work fine for me though so you shouldn't have issues with this. Maybe just needs a fresh install of Rev10, so maybe install Rev9 again then install Rev10.

UPDATE:
There was a forwarder for it but it was made for the 1.1 loader by AB abd I tested it recently on my Wii and it seemed to not work properly and had some color issues, so I removed it from the downloads. I'm sure at some stage a wad or forwarder will be made for it by DK or someone around here

Thanks! I really want to use this. That's what been holding me back. Also here there are channel forwarder for this? Just Edit your last post if you answer!

I have channels made for all my games but if I ever want to use codes or I dont have a channel made, I'll defo use this loader, the ability to download missing cover art straight to the Wii is what sold it to me

@Appleby: Mmmh. from my point of view, cdreams is doing nothing for the progress and he has no abilities in a single frame. I looked at your early work and a partnership between DK and you would have been great. But selfishness made it impossible. Maybe I go back to coding myself... I looked at the QRev1 source and the Wakin 1.4 release, damn me, that is sooo easy.... Just give me some time to come into this. But this - in this SELF-SHOW-ISSUE - really sucks.

FLOW man, it is FLOW not SHOW - REMEMBER?

@cdreams: I just read your last replies and OMG you are such a no go. If I look to the settings screen I could v**** You have no skills and you are not in the scene (you would like to be, uh?). Go playing Uno or Wheel-of-fortune, but this is not your area. For torturing Apple Belly so much you derserve a bad flame. No sorry for that. You are so selfish, inpolite and unable to contribute ANYTHING.

ok, expect the Coverflow7 rev9alpha4 to be released by saturday's night.
i just send some debug version to some members here and i'm waiting for their feedback.

in a glance:

Rev 9 Alpha 4 - 04/25/09:
- improved the code.
- attempt to fix the "abort called" bug when scrolling through +30 games.
- new way to display pictures quicker... really need to work on this.
- downsized the boot.dol from almost 3M to 474kb.
- updated to waninoko's usbloader v1.5, so non working games should now be working.
- use our own artwork instead of the native pictures of usbloader when there's a path error (with a line stating that there's an error with paths not to get confused).
- improved the config.txt with a new arguments:
you can now edit the text/background colors (to match a theme for example, see the config_sample.txt for more).
- added the save/discard game settings (video/language/ocarina per game settings).
- now displays the game name/id/size and also how many games are installed on hd with game/free size in the option screen.
- added Force PAL50/PAL60/NTSC (thx to Narolez).
- added more hdd compatiblity fix (thx to Narolez).
- game's name is now centered...

i'm also planning to add either bgm or specific sounds for actions, and the widescreen support in the next release (rev10 or rev9alpha5).
i might also provide a working forwader and channel for this loader, yep as you can see, i wasn't much here this week but i've worked a little more than expected. just wait.

by the way, i was browsing the last 10 pages with my phone at work and lots of it made me work...
if it was that simple to make all those great effects with the actual lib then it would have already been included in all loaders.
what you can achieve with photoshop is just static... we need motion. so not all your creations can be done, the same goes for actionscript/flash-caroussel.
regarding the fact to have only 1 picture per game and make all transformation by maths routines is kinda useless (even if it's seems obvious to all coders, i agree) as we have to deal with 7 pictures...
and their relevant loading times off the sdcard.

the problem is not to waste some (small) amount of sdcard's space... but the loading time. that's a major issue to me as i need to load then display each picture, which then breaks the flow effect.

however, the best ways to explore for now are libwiigui and the latest ds port of quake as it uses opengl.
bringing opengl to the wii is a major feature for me, and i can't wait to make my 1st tests.

Offtopic and edit:
@DragTom70:
mate you're just throwing gas over the fire, everybody's trying to bring peace in here and you just seem to start it all over.
if you can code, just bring it on, i swear that the more coders are involved the better for the scene it will be.
HOWEVER, quit this SHOW/FLOW stuff, it's starting to get boring in the end. it's nothing but a name, a way to mimic the real coverflow, the way we want it for now.

once again, you can code? rip all the code you want from QRev1 and show us your skill, i'll glad to see a real working coverflow.
believe me, i ain't no hater, but quit the babbling, get your acts together and just show us.

@Don Killah: This is so lame. You have sense of coding? As I am very long out of the scene let me tell you as a former assembler/demo-coder what you say this is totally crap!!! You can get all the shitty stuff from the other loaders (Ocarina, WS/FS, BGM as well)- I just looked at all the those codes and I am laughing so loud. This is a project which is too big for ONE person. With one of the worst Photoshop guys and advisors on your side like cdreams, mmmh, there is no hope. Take my advice in my PM.

blink.gif
what are you talking about?
who do you think you are? what do you know about me?
a so called retired asm coder? fine... i am too. but the diff between me and you is that i ain't left the scene.

it's guys just like you that make coders wanna drop projects from the community.

Like i said to another old time atari/amiga scener:
Don Killah said:
well well well... i'm one of the guys who is helping with such coverflow loaders (Coverflow7) and i have to say, that even if you don't want to upset anyone mate... you've just started a war in here^^

i'm might be one of the oldest in here, check when i've signed in: back in 2002.
i knew this forum when some of you were still little kids.
i'm a coder, yep, i admit it but dealing with asm/delphi/java/javascript/php and the like are my fav languages... i don't really like the C/C#/C++ world.

but i'm a coder, so i can code whatever the language and was part of the scene you're talking about.

it all started back in 1991 (when i was 15) and had my atari 1040STE and later my Amiga 600.
on both of them i was part of the scene: i started as game cracker (who ever heard about Rob Northern's proctection... yep raise your hand... nobody? oh excuse me, you're too young!), so i've learned 6800's assembly, cracking and then coding.
i've joined one of the biggest crew here down in France Replicants/Fuzion. Rep being the cracking team and Fuzion the coding/release team.
we released plenty of dentros/multiparts/music discs/4ktros , had hundreds of releases and being in touch with the backbone of the scene at awesome coding parties through europe.
it was the best part of my childhood.

so believe me, when dealing with the scene, i know what i'm talking about.

unfortunatly, such a scene doesn't exists for the wii. we have talented coders and graphists too but nothing like the amiga/atari scene.
i know what you meant, believe me... but some people here might find it a little bit harsh.
and this, because most of us are doing this on their spare time, i myself have a really busy professionnal life and i don't even talk about my private one.

just let the guys do what they can, we can always have some designers do the job later.
this said, i'm off to coding.

but you know what? you succeeded, fine i ain't gonna release shit.
you got me mad mate, i can't believe that i've spent so many hours of my private life with this and get slapped in the face by a nobody...

damn... i just can't believe it.

i don't wanna talk to you anymore, you pretend to give lessons to others.
mate, i'm 33... i ain't no kid. and about you coming back into the game and the feds, it's upto you: i don't give a fucking damn about it (see, i can also be angry, your not the only one
mad.gif
).

i asked several times AB to come back to this project, on the previous thread, on this one and even on pm.
you told me that you're "an old man"? and that "if i listen. i will grow", well, what about this one sir:
don't spit at everyone, i don't know you and i don't owe you anything.

this said, have a nice day and may our paths never cross again.

Can't we all just get along?

If you're coming into this thread just to say something like it's simple or ugly, you can go somewhere else, or do something to help make it better.

I agree cdreams has been very difficult and demanding and I understand why Applebelly got fed up with the coding, but I think if AB + DK put their heads together they could make something great.

i ain't doing shit, i'm dropping this.
AB, i feel you mate, i feel you.
the only thing that makes me upset is that in then end, i've wasted my time.

If you read all thread you should know that it won't happen
wink.gif
, and it's not the place to talk about it. So, everyone, be cool
smile.gif
and if you disagree with someone, PM exists. I don't car who is right, who is wrong, cause you won't know what really happened.

To talk about the loader name, coverflow could seem "flow of cover" and this loader would be perfect as it is, but coverflow don't really mean "flow of cover" but "coverflow" as Apple stated it ... You know what i mean. So, to sum up my Point of view, it's an amazing work, good job with templates, really awesome job with functionnalities, but if it doesn't evolve to something more eye candy (with reflection for example, smooth display aso), it won't be popular and you take the risk to loose time for nothing (Be sure I know what i'm talking about
wink.gif
).

Well, it's just my opinion, and everybody, keep the good work.
