here it is Red theme beta2

some little changes:
- font colors
- config backgrounds added
-many fine tunes

Here it is.

http://www.mediafire.com/file/mznv3dnjmxn/Red-theme_beta2.zip

PS: something I noticed is that seems to be a max kb limit for the theme png the loader can manage, in particular now my theme has 4 backgrounds and to make it work I needed to resize all of them from 640x480 to 400x300, otherwise 2 of them randomly won't work and all box covers become broken, now that they are smaller and all the theme is less than 2 mb all works fine

I've got a few ideas hot to make my theme better and I've already started working on some of them but I'll be away from teh internetz for the next week (Damn, I'll miss the WWDC.. Someone text me if they announce a cheaper iPhone!) so do not expect any updates.. Probably a gamecube USB loader is also released while I'm away..

P.S. If some1 would be able to do a video again, that would be very nice !
I'll hope BlindDude will do this again.

You should let BlindDude become the beta tester

. He seems very diligent and persistent in the process of testing. Surely he'll get my vote as a beta tester when a new app is looking for beta testers.

Uh ya, all these loaders boot games from the hdd (the program itself is run from an sd, but accesses games on the wbfs partition of the hdd)....this release is still a beta, but is quite stable and is also themable.

Yeah i realise that, but there is at least 1 loader that runs from a fat32 partition on the HDD, so no SDcard needed..
that would decrease loading times etc..

hibern,

great work on your loader...

I am sorry if I missed something but I can't find this information.
I have a couple of question about your caching method.
but you mentioned that if someone does not have internet your app can/will grab the png from the SD card and cache them.
1. Is that already implemented ? where should I host the pics ?

to give you a history behind this question I have to explain that I am testing more or less each loader that is out. For the fun of it, and also to try helping in debugging.
But you know that each loader have its requirement (folder/size/naming convention)
I got fed up having to download the covers for each loader. so I have created a small windows application that creates a repository of all the covers/3d/discart/fullbox on my PC (based of my wbfs drive or even a titles.txt file) .. then populate my SD card (or a directory on my usb fat partition) for each loader with the correct required files..
pros :
- no need to have internet on the wii
- it is a one click apps.
- the images gets downloaded only once.
- the repository gets updated with new images on startup
- I can handle multiple setup (for my friends)
cons :
- no gui
- only a ini file that has to be modified manually

but I am stuck with your loader... as I do not know where I should host the png files..
2. or maybe if you could give us some hints on how you are caching the images I could directly populate the cache folder.. (I am thinking out loud right now as I do not have my wii with me and I can't really look at the folder/filetype) ?

Cheers,
R

Page 28, in BlindDude's post. If you search gbatemp for BlindDude's Junk, you'll find it there as well. It took me a while to realize the loader had been released, since there isn't really an official release thread.

but this would take some more MB's from the SD cards.

You are currently able to choose which Theme you want, but not inside the loader. ^^
it would only take up more room if you choose to put more than one theme on your card...

Does anyone really care about using space on their SD cards? I mean really, I just bought an 8GB SDHC card for 20$. Thats 8GB! Whats a few MB anyways?

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
