Personally I hate Counterstrike (Urban Terror fan here), both of those are twitch type shooters which I would suprised if anyone could make a convincing arguement for when it comes to the DS (no limited autoaim in this case is not going to win me over).

This being said I would love to see more shooters (2d or 3d) on the DS but I personally believe Counterstirke would not survive the transition intact.

As for openGL, I suggest one reads some more development tutorials: http://ethos.oddigytitanium.com/

i agree with hugecock. cs 1.6 is still kicking with plenty of servers....proves that people are extremely loyal to CS

It doesn't matter if they prefer to make shit for Window...people are motivated by money. Lots of it. How many Dses are there? Lots. How much good press does the DS have? Lots...how many more DSes will be sold? lots....Valve just needs a smack in the face, grab them by the back of the hair, stick their nose on the touch pad and say "look guys this shit works, its not just for 8 year olds to play Pokemon....grown ups and teenagers play this shit too so if you make the game, people will buy it, you will make a butt load of money...

I do not think so, DS owners are mostly kids, I doubt it would even turn a profit. The people it would actually be most popular with are pirates like us, that's not a marketable demographic. And you can't tell me serious PC gamers would go out and buy a DS to play some watered down Counterstrike on a tiny screen with a touch controls. Think realistically.

LOL what? jesus what servers do you play on? 30% of the servers are adult based rooms while 70% are filled with 15 year olds screaming shit in their mic. I have to play more Metroid to see how good FPS can be but I think if they made a good game people would buy it. I mean what age is too little to plau CS?

Meh, the only fun I had in CS was blocking a fellow teammate into a corner with my flash light turned on, trying to repeatedly stab him, getting us both killed, and getting kicked and banned.

I'd rather see something more like Duke Nukem 3D or a Battlefield-ish game. If an official game was made like that I wouldn't mind being able to play online as well.

Apperantly the ds has not enough ram to run Duke 3d

Urban Terror... now there's a game I haven't played in a good while. I used to play a lot! My clan used to win a lot of tournaments too. Good times.

I would buy CS:DS. No rom. Buy it. expecially if it had single-card play and it could support upto 8 players(4 on 4 at work would be awesome, wouldnt get anything done. but still..)

I ported some CS 1.6 models over the DS, check these roms (made with PALib) to see how it got out.
And I have to say, it is very well. No framerate problems at all.

First off, the DS 3D hardware is very similar to OpenGL, and LibNDS uses the exact same GL functions that are available on other platforms.
Second, if you're talking about valve making this game, then there's no chance to make it without a ram expansion card.
But, if you want it as a homebrew game, you might be better off using the 32 MegaBytes of ram available in the SuperCard and M3.

My 2 cents:P

Not so interesting since there's a md2 loader in PALib. The DS have some good openGL capabilities, that's not new.
Anyway, keep going if you want to learn openGL. I suggest you the very good Nehe lessons.
Now, try to code your own md2 loader
