Okay, I don't know if this is possible or has been done before, but I'm currently using a R4 cart running Moonshell 2 in combination with YsMenu. YsMenu is based on DSTT, which for the most part, is much better than the outdated (authentic) R4 kernel (last official one being 1.18). But a few rare games seem to prefer the R4. I was wondering if there was any way to conver the R4 kernel files into an .nds, load it on my cart, and when necessary, just run the file to boot the R4 1.18 firmware. Any insight would be great, thanks!

You'll have to decrypt the dat file and then rename it to a nds file. As long as it's decrypted you should be able to run it like a rom.
