Hacking Confused with R4DS

with our package we didnt get the CD, it says you can download it from R4ds.com, but it's says V1.18 kernel, but I think I also need the DAT MENU and moonshl, if so how, where do I get this, as my intro' post said I'm dim dim dim with this kind of stuf so simple as you can please!

REally would appreciate advice, as I'm well stuck and my 7 yr old is very impatient!!

if you download the 1.18 kernel, it will include everything you need, including moonshl.
all you have to do is copy everything in the ENGLISH folder of the 1.18 kernel into the root of your SD card

You would get help alot faster if you posted this question in the appropriate forum (i.e.-NDS Flashing and Hardware Discussions>R4 DS). Read the definitive R4/M3 Simply Sticky. I think that's all the help you'll need.

No sweat. I just think people can find the help they need fairly easily here since everything is laid out logically and in an easily accessible format. I think I remember coming to this site after trying to research hacking the PSP (pre-pandora battery). That's when I realized the DS could run ROMS with only a cartridge "hack" and I bought a DS and a M3 Simply instead of a PSP. I just read everything related and I didn't even have to post much since all my questions were already answered elsewhere in the forum (that's why even though I joined in Jun 2007, I only have roughly 50 posts). Search is your friend.

Get the new version, it works better and better compatibility. The latest version 1.18 comes with moonshell and everything you need to use the R4.

Newer the better, most of the time.

If you don't get the newest version some games won't work.

after that just download games and pop them in the card

The R4 is easiest to use, but the others are also pretty easy too.
