    Hi everyone
I have a Switch on OFW 4.1 which I have installed CFW on. I’m not sure if the switch is iPatched as I followed a guide on YouTube to install Atmosphere/Kosmos/Pegascape/Hekate which allowed me to run the exploit and boot into CFW without pushing a payload using a jig on the right joycon rail - I think it uses a web exploit to boot into CFW? I haven’t used the Tegra thingy on my PC to see if the switch can accept payloads as I’ve never had to boot using the jig method as I don’t travel with my switch. The YouTube guide has since been removed along with the channel it was hosted on.

I’m having some trouble adding new games/DLC/updates to my Switch.

Everything’s been fine up until Tinfoil started showing the red screen for Atmosphere users. I was getting around this by changing the name of the “kips” and “bootloader” folders in Goldleaf, accessing Tinfoil, adding new content and then changing the folder names back to “kips” and “bootloader” until I needed to use Tinfoil again, then I’d repeat the process.

The last time I had Tinfoil working I was on an older version of Atmosphere, I changed the folder names and downloaded the ACNH update which allowed you to swim in the sea. When I tried to load ACNH after updating the game wouldn’t boot due to it needing the latest FW. I updated my CFW to the latest using Chiorjoirthingy and the game started fine. I updated Atmosphere to 0.13.0 and tried to boot my switch into CFW but I got a black screen after the Atmosphere logo (I think I need new patches to run this but I don’t know which ones I need?). I’ve managed to get boot into CFW but only on Atmosphere 0.12.0 where I can no longer access the latest version of Tinfoil - even after changing the folder names. I’ve also tried “Awoo Installer” to add games but it shows an error when attempting to add a game I have on the SD Card.

Can anyone tell me what patches I need, I don’t want to do something stupid and cause a brick and with so many different switch models/CFW methods it’s really confusing knowing what to do?
Or how can I add games/DLC’s/updates to my switch using another working method?
Ideally I’d like to update to Atmosphere 0.13.0 with the correct patches and continue to use Tinfoil/JITS as I’m comfortable with that method but I’m open to using anything safe to add new content.

Sorry for the long post, forgive my limited knowledge and thanks in advance. I’ve been getting guides/help from this website since I hacked my WiiU/vWii using a guide from here years ago but have never need help before.

When you start your Switch after it was powered off completely, there is no way to boot a CFW without a jig or payload injector.
The only possibility is that you bought a secondhand Switch with a build-in payload injector (Trinket M0).

When things get messsd up you might get a black screen after booting.
Usually it's some required file that is missing or the wrong version.
I would recommend following this guide and do a clean install : https://switch.homebrew.guide/
You can keep the 'Nintendo' folder to keep all your games.

If you have a Trinket installed, maybe you need to update that too.
There are some threads here with all the info.

Goldleaf is working fine so I would recommend that.
Don't forget that you need recent sigpatches.
Google is your best friend for finding those.

Thanks for the reply but I didn’t buy a secondhand switch, it was brand new on firmware 4.1. I followed a now removed YouTube tutorial to add the CFW and I’ve never used a jig to push the payload to boot into CFW. When I power my switch on I go to the eshop icon press on it and click “sign in” I then get a message which says “preparing” once loaded I get the “pegascape” screen with 2 icons displayed 1 is the “hbmenu” icon and the other is a coffee cup - I think this is called “caffeine”? I press on the coffee cup icon and then I get a loading spinning icon, once this is loaded I am presented with a screen with a text box telling me to wait 3 seconds and then tap inside the text box and then tap the power button briefly, after doing this I get the “AtlasNX” logo, then the “Atmosphere” logo and then I’m into CFW. It definitely doesn’t have a trinket inside it as I bought it retail sealed from a high street retailer.
Whenever I update Atmosphere I boot into Hekate where I have to get Hekate to boot into CFW the next time I boot into CFW. If you search for “hack switch on 4.1” will see you can even run this exploit without a jig on an ipatched switch as long as the system is on 4.1 or lower.
I will look for the Hekate sig patches and try that but I’m not sure which ones I need?

I deleted all CFW files and added Atmosphere 0.13.0 and the new patches for Hekate and got Tinfoil working again. Problem solved.

I don’t think he’s done that deliberately. I think most people who use jigs aren’t aware of this method to boot into CFW. And I think it only works for me because I’m on a low firmware (4.1).
I’m just glad I got everything working again and now I can use Tinfoil and add my updates.

So you have no idea if the Switch is iPatched or not? You may be making your life harder than it needs to be using Pegascape. Fusée Gelée (the RCM + jig exploit) is superior. Once it's setup, you can just use autoRCM and life is easy. But first, you have to see if your Switch is vulnerable to fusée gelée.

Thanks for the heads up but how can detaching the right joy con and using a jig be superior to pressing a few icons on the screen?
My model number was in the maybe patched column when I checked the thread on here. I downloaded the Tegra app for my PC but never got around to using it - I got impatient waiting for my jig to arrive in the post whilst staring at my new switch so I went ahead and opted for the non jig method. Honestly after following the guide I used, everything was fine for nearly a year until Tinfoil started showing a red screen asking me to remove Kosmos and Kosmos disappearing. I think I’ve just added vanilla Atmosphere now as Tinfoil allows me to add content without the silly red screen.

Well, for one thing, the jig use can be limited to one use only, if you choose to install autoRCM. After that, it's just a matter of re-injecting a payload when you want to reboot. No need to mess with the jig anymore. There exists payload injectors (small dongles), or you can use an android phone to inject the payload, so no need to have the PC nearby.
Pegascape requires that your sysNAND stays at firmware 4.1. That means no online play. With fusée, you could update the sysNAND to the latest and play online if you want, while retaining your emuNAND for CFW. There are probably other advantages which I don't think of at the moment.

So if I update sysNAND to the latest firmware do I need to purchase retail/digital download games to play online or can I install games from Tinfoil? If I need to buy games I don’t really see the point... I’m pretty sure switching between sysNAND games and emuNAND games would get confusing for others in my household. I’m aware of the dongles but I still don’t see how that’s better than not having to attach anything to my switch to boot into CFW? I don’t have an Android phone so that’s out. I would like the option to play some games online I suppose but it’s not a deal breaker. I do have incognito installed but I’m unsure if I’d get banned so I haven’t tried to go online.

No, of course, the games you'd play online would have to be genuine and bought. No tinfoil installation. But I understand your point of view. Why fix something that isn't broken? If Pegascape fits your needs, no need to worry. Be safe and don't touch that sysNAND.
