so place the GAMEID.wip file inside the sd:/usb-loader folder?

Yes. It should be just like this. sd:/usb-loader/GAMEID.wip

If it's the current PoP wip file youre trying to get to work, it doesn't!
There is still some game checks against mem hacks. Try altdol instead, that works.

Please not that "GAMEID" needs to be replaced with the 4 or 6 character game ID.

As for patching into an alt .dol, that is exactly what the .wip patch does.

Isn't the .wip patch just an hooked memory patch (not hardcoded) for the started dol file?
As stated before, there should be some wip option in the game settings menu.

(if WIP file found)

WIP (on, off)
Make altdol from WIP (warn if altdol already exist)

Maybe in the future even a download wip function (if someone host a site for those)

Is RPWE41 the correct ID for the NTSC Version?

Just want to make sure
I don't know.

I can confirm that the PAL is SPXP (the company code isn't needed) from the box I just bought, but I can't confirm if the same patch works until I get home from work.

@IceIceBird, if it turns out a file is needed instead of the memory patch (it is looking that way), we will make a new version of Cfg that does just that.

EDIT: It's looking like there may be a problem with the .wip patch. Feel free to try it, but I'll see if I can work out what the bug is soon.

Just by curiosity, lets pretend that we load a game and there is a wip file present, the wii copies the main.dol to the sd/usb and patch that with the information from the wip file. (creates an temp dol file) (could be used as an "Apply WIP to MEM or DOL option)
How much longer would it take to start a game, what's your guess? (file size matter of cource, but in avarge)

i was going to say that i was having problems too with the .wip but i ca see dr.clipper is on
and yes the ntsc version of pop is rpwz41 just dumped one of my friends and that is it

Thanks, very strange, that.

The copy i have is RPWZ41 and wiibackup manager reports it at region free not ntsc or pal
The backup managers use that letter to determine the region, just like PAL does.

It now seems that Z can be used to refer to either PAL or US.

I'm almost certain it isn't region free as I was told it contains only a US update of the firmware.

Sorry, I'm new around and I don't have an Usb hard disk, only a burned dvd with PoP on it. I want to play this game with Cfg from disc. Do I need an Usb stick in the Usb port for that because I don't have a wbfs partition?

Firstly, we do not make any guarantees about burned discs working. The disc loading in Cfg is only built to support retail discs.

You can make it look for the FAT partition on your SD card instead.

Change config.txt (in the base directory, probably sd:/usb-loader) so that it has the lines:

device=sdhc
partition=fat1

Then Cfg should boot up to an empty set of games. Push - to access the menu that allows you to boot a disc, or assign a button to the boot_disc action in config.txt. E.g.:

button_B=boot_disc

Also note that you will probably need the .wip patch to get PoP to work. A working .wip patch should be available very soon.

The latest .wip path doesnt work. i think you should stick with the make altdol from wip thingy

save some time

cfg v57b4 (beta4)
cfg57b4.dol
cfg57b4-222.dol
(or online update)
Changes:

cfg v57b4 (beta4)
Patch for Prince of Persia
new option: disable_pop_patch = [0], 1
new option: disable_dvd_patch = [0], 1

You have to set disable_dvd_patch if you want to run PoP with a Hermes IOS.

Also, ensure you remove ALL PoP .wip files from the base directory if you tried any.

Hopefully one day.

In the meantime, try this workaround:

Go to your Wii Settings and set Screen...TV Type to 480i. This is much better to use, as long as your TV supports it, and almost every PAL TV supports it. Many games actually work better in 480i as they are designed to be played at that refresh rate by the primary audience (Japan + US).
