Just a quick OT question about your guide: you quote the Waninkoko's WAD Manager 1.6 to install the forwarder, but I know that it doesn't exist officially, it's just the 1.5 version compiled with the error1029-fix on.
I link to that one because the file server where 1.5 was located went down for at least a week or two (I don't know if it is back up now or not).

ive got the usb loader working fine, got all the ios' i need and can rip games fine.

not a problem, but after ripping a game and went to the option to download all game covers, it kept saying something like error cover could not be downloaded. plus the game name is all wrong.

is there something im missing?

cheers for any help
Which game? What is the name it states and what do you think it should be?

that reminds me actually, as far as renaming games, from what i can see i can't rename them within the loader, i use titles.txt for proper names, do i have to edit that to change the names of the games?

Yes. You can use titles.txt or custom-tiltes.txt (both have same format, but custom version has priority). You can also download the latest titles.txt from WiiTDB on the global options page.

yeah titles.txt is always accurate, but because of a game with a : and a game without one the order gets kinda screwy. E.g. right now my list goes (from left to right) Animal Crossing: City Folk, Boom Blox, Boom Blox Bash Party, A Boy and his Blob. So thats just why i wanted to mess with the titles, thanks Dr. Clipper, you deserve a gbatemp award or something

I don't see a problem. A Boy and his Blob sorts differently because we default to title sort (i.e., ignore the articles 'a', 'an' and 'the' at the start of titles). Thus, 'A Boy and His Blob' is treated as 'Boy and his Blob' for sorting purposes. Same thing happens for games beginning with 'The Legend of Zelda' which are sorted under L.

If you dislike title sort, you can add "sort_ignore=0" to config.txt to sort purely alphabetically, or change the list of ignored words. The default value is "sort_ignore = a, an, the"

sweet thanks

yeah its not a problem in the sense that its the way you guys intended it, but yeah it was odd that it wasn't included in the A (i was thinking it was doing it alphabetically) thanks for the help for like the fifth time now lol

Note that to hide the games in the Configurator, there are two methods. The harder method is to try to construct the hide_game option values using the IDs. The easier one is as follows:

Do you still have the loader in its unlocked state when testing that? In the unlocked state, all hidden games are displayed because otherwise there would be no way to unhide them. You need to relock the loader to actually see them be hidden. Either hold 1 again, or restart the loader.

Thanks, that was it on both accounts.

my TV seems to cut off the bottom of the display/theme, which just so happens to be where a lot of people put what the controls are. Since i am new to cfg usbloader it's making it a bit hard for me to use. is there a way to adjust this?

also i like the simplistic layout of a list of games, with just 1 cover showing whatever the selected game was. Is there a way to default to this layout and keep it there? i am not a huge fan of having all of the covers showing.

i recently found out the past few days that when your wii is using 60hz, apps get cut off at the top and bottom, when setting the wii settings to 50hz all is good and everything is displayed the way it should be

if needed i could up a youtube video of what i mean tomoz

As stated, your display problem is caused by PAL60 issues. This causes black bars for most people and cut-off text for others. Set your Wii in 480i or 480p in the video options to fix it.

And you want to remove gui=start from config.txt (or change it to gui=0 or gui=1) to default to the console view.

@Dr Clipper

quick q but i think its just a config.txt setting that needs changing but when i transit from GUI to console the bg image of the console seems to get squashed and doesn't fill the screen as it should

im i right thinking its the widescreen = auto setting or am i off track

That's the PAL60/576i issue yet again. It's mentioned in the first post. Nothing to do with widescreen. Cfg is fixed to a render height of 480 for simplicity. If the Wii is at 576i, it thus typically just fills in the top 480 lines of the 576. If your TV can handle it, set the Wii to 480i in the Wii settings and you won't see that issue any more. Technically, you'll be getting less pixels, but games are typically designed for 480 lines anyway. You'll get a better refresh rate as compensation. Some early games even have bugs when played in 576i. For example, several of the minigames in Rayman Raving Rabbids PAL become nigh unplayable.

My wii was already in 480i. i changed it to 480p and the bottom of the screen is still cut off.

thanks for the tip on gui = 0, that worked. =)

another thing, i can't seem to get Wii Sports Resort to load with CFG USBLoader. It was working fine with GX before, but not it doesn't load with CFG. If i use cIOS 249 it just black screens. with 222 or 223 my Wiimote vibrates once and makes a little beep, but then black screens right after. =\ any ideas?

quick question, my Freecom Classic Mobile 400GB 2.5" SATA External USB 2.0 Hard Drive is being delivered tommorow and i'll use it as the HDD for my usb loader, i checked the compatability HDD list on this site, and while it says it works fine, it had a note saying error-1 may come up sometimes? what does this mean exactly?:

If the screen is chopping off that much in 480p mode, then you want to change your settings on the TV as there could be something wrong with them. Does the Wii display the whole screen outside of Cfg? What about in the HBC?

For Wii Sports Resort, it sounds like your Wii has forgotten that you have already watched the MotionPlus video. Is it on firmware 4.0 by any chance? If so, that explains your problem. You need to watch that video again in order for it to start by whatever method you used the first time. The easiest way is just to play the original disc once, assuming you own it.

i dont think the screen is cropped anywhere else other than CFG Loader.
OK, that's very weird. Can you please try going back to 480i and using the composite cables rather than component?

Not going to judge too much but seriously, 500 Wii games? At least I narrow it down to 8.0 and higher rated retail games on wii.ign.com and that's not even 100. But to help answer your question, I believe Wii Backup Manager can handle WBFS to FAT transfers.
