That's probably the best compatibility setup you can have. If you have a bit more patience to do the WAD installations of IOS249, then this might be best:
IOS249 rev 19 base 38 (for installation apps)
IOS250 rev 19 base 57 (with ios=250 in config.txt for most games)
IOS223 v4 38+37 (select in per-game options for music games)

Config. USB Loader loads up much quicker when using IOS57 as the base.
If I were to use IOS38 for cIOS249 but change the config.txt to say "ios=250" would the loader boot using cIOS250 or just the games' IOS change to 250 within the loader?

Cfg would boot via 250 but it would launch 249 first before switching to 250.

I think I'll pass on changing IOS249 to use IOS38 as the base then.
It doesn't bother me to press left a couple times on the Wii remote to get to IOS222 in WAD Manager. I barely use it anymore anyhow.

So here's some ways to fix it:[*]Install rev 19 of IOS249 and 55b3 of Cfg[*]Install v4 of IOS222/223 and 55b3-222 of Cfg (or 54-fat)For the second option, you may have to use AnyTitle Deleter to get rid of your existing 222 and 223 first.

did that and still hangs on:
"IOS (222) mload [fat]"
Um, which one did you do?

installed rev19 and the two cfg versions, I installed the r4 222/223 yesterday

If you did the first approach, there's no way that it should have reported "IOS (222) mload [fat]". If you have saved options for that game, make sure you set it to 249 instead. Also, remove any "ios= BLAH" lines in config.txt.

Not in the loader persay [FAIK] but there is in the options of the wii menu to change the screen format size to wide screen.

There it is, is there an option for widescreen somewhere in the Loader I missed?
There is one (called "widescreen"), but its default is to automatically detect whether your screen is wide or not based on the Wii setting. It seems that the detection is working OK. Perhaps your screen is auto-zooming the image because of the near-pure white border. Try a different theme that has some variation in the outer regions (e.g., BlueMatrix) to see if that helps.

It looks like you are right, but the TV I am using doesn't really have any options so I guess ill just live with it for now.
Thanks for your help.

Why would you need to live with it? If it is just chopping off the top of the console because it's white, use a different theme with a non-white background pic. You can switch to and save a chosen theme on the global options page, or even make your own in Configurator.

If you don't have any themes installed, just get the full zip version for 54 and copy the InSDRoot\usb-loader\themes directory and its contents to your base directory.

cfg v55b3 (beta3)
I think all issues related to FAT/NTFS loading on cios 249 rev19 are solved now, please test
smile.gif

And also, let's hear it if it works on SDHC cards now or not...?

Perfect, all games I tested so far are starting perfectly from USB harddisk with 55b3 (both with ios38 and ios57 as base)

I had a lot of issues with loading games with the previous beta

Not so sure about the 'new-est' games. Alice in Wonderland and Spellbound Party wont boot for me with rev 19 base 57.

They're loading fine now with 55 (release) and rev 19

I can't really be bothered to try with other bases 'cos its not too hard to just launch 'em with 222

Personally, I'd forgo the trouble of multiple installs and uninstalls and just go with the following (unspecified IOSes don't matter):

IOS249 rev 19 base 57 (for most games)
IOS222 v5 base 38 (for installation apps)
IOS223 v4 38+37 (select in per-game options for music games)

Doc, thanks for this nice summary. I'm old and slow, so what's the best way to get to this point? I've used the old Neogaf tutorial on setting up CFG and I think I'm up to IOS249 v15 so I could install dual-layer games. I believe I have 222/223 but no idea what versions (again, I basically followed the tutorial). Do the same steps in the tutorial still apply for installing new IOSs?

One other quick thing, I updated CFG to one of the 55 betas last night (the most recent I believe) and it looks like it overwrote my default of 222-mload for loading games? I got a nice "IOS 249 does not support fat partitions" or something to that effect after I updated and tried to run a game. For the immediate, I just set the per-game option to 222-mload but I assume I can fix this in the config.txt by adding (or checking for) the line IOS=222-mload, correct? Any idea why CFG did this after the upgrade?

Thanks.

Sorry to be a bother.

What is this "Install and use IOS xx as base"?

I don't quite understand this. Is it basically have several CIOS installed at once? Or setting up the loader to pull for certain CIOS depending on the game?

Sorry, i'm new to wii modding and configurable USB loader it self and there are ton of options that I just don't understand, I do apologize how ever if someone could give a brief description of these base things I would be very thankful. Thank you for all of your time and hard work.

cIOS revs 18 and 19 allow you to install the IOS by patching an IOS chosen by the user. Each one has it's own advantages. (cIOS rev1-rev3 used only IOS37, cIOS rev4-rev11 used only IOS36, and cIOS rev12-rev17 used only IOS38)

How do you install IOS250 rev 19 base 57?

Someone a while ago posted this:

"If you want a different base for 249, do the following:

-Install normal with base 37
-Dump IOS250 with BlueDump
-Install the base you want for 249 (57/38)
-Install the dumped WAD from BlueDump with WADManager" "

Actually that is incorrect since you can't use WAD manager if there is no base 38 IOS.

So install Base IOS 57 using CIOS Rev19 installer using slot 249, dump 249 using bluedump. (system files / backup to WAD) If you want instrument support repeat the process with base IOS 37
Install Base ISO 38 using Cios Rev19 installer using slot 249.
Use WAD manager to install the bluedump created WAD (base IOS 57) in 249 and you are ready. (Optionally you can install the base IOS 37 WAD in 250 NO more WAD install possible unless you reinstall base IOS38 using CIOS REV19 installer)

u can use wad manager with many dif cios'

cios202[38+60]-v4 works the best/fastest (seriously I noticed a big difference when mounting my USB2 drive)

cios222[38] also works

and cios249[38] also works

and of course a properly patched ios36 also works... etc.
