The loader has a locked and unlocked mode. However in locked mode it is still possible to use the - key to delete games.
This can happen in the grid / flow view. Once you select a game by clicking it, in that "view" the option to use - or + are blocked.

Could this be fixed? Now I don't dare giving the remote to my little kid for using the loader.

Thanx
This functionality is already there. Simply add "disable_remove=1" to config.txt. Several other options can also be locked, being confirm_start, disable_install, disable_options and disable_format. Setting "simple=1" in config.txt automatically triggers all of those options. For the best child-proofing, set "simple = 1" followed by "confirm_start=1". The unlock code will still re-enable all those features. For help making these changes to config.txt, see README-CFG.txt or the Configurator app in my sig.

Is it possible to organize the .wbfs files inside the usb:/wbfs/ folder by means o the use of subfolders instead of the actual flat way?
This has already been suggested, and rejected. File management is pretty simple as is as all the files will be located similarly as long as you use an alphabetic sort. It's even easy to move the file by command line as you can refer to all of the split files as "ID6.wbf?" using the ? wildcard.

Reformat didnt work. I will try something else, but after that I think I am giving up

Nothing worked, and I dont particularly feel like re downloading every game I had and starting over with a wbfs format, so I guess for me this program is a bust.
Are you using the HBC to start the app? If not, ensure you do. Try putting the app on an SD card instead of the same FAT partition as the loader or vice versa if you haven't already. Try turning on the drive during the 30 second countdown. I can't think of much else which you haven't already done. Perhaps use the non-fat v46 version but add "partition=FAT1" to config.txt.

How do i extract an iso from .wbfs using wbfs_file?
Also where can i get a full list of the commands for wbfs_file?

Read the readme.txt file in the wbfs_file_1.3 distribution... or type wbfs_file -h

for example you'll find:

wbfs_file filename.wbfs
Will convert filename.wbfs to GAMEID_TITLE.iso

Thanks for that info.

But what are the commands df and rm for?

how can i generate a gamelist from my fat hdd? this only seems to do it from a wbfs partition.

rm is remove. df is free disk space, I believe.

And you could just go "dir X:\wbfs\*.txt" in Windows or "ls pathtodrive\wbfs\*.txt" in Unix for a listing.

cfg v47a (alpha)
SDUSB-Loader_cfg47a.dol
(or online update)

Code:
 * Better compatibility with weird WBFS partition setups:

- WBFS on RAW disk device, without a partition table
ÂÂ With such a setup the partition table will look like this:
ÂÂÂÂP# Size(GB) Type Mount Used
ÂÂÂÂ-----------------------------
ÂÂÂÂRAWÂÂ500.00 WBFS1ÂÂÂÂÂÂ[USED]

- WBFS on EXTENDED partition. Normally a filesystem should
ÂÂ reside on either a primary or logical partition, never on
ÂÂ an extended partition. Extended is just a container of logical
ÂÂ partitions. However older version allowed this setup and so
ÂÂ the support for it is back. The partition table will look like:
ÂÂÂÂP# Size(GB) Type Mount Used
ÂÂÂÂ-----------------------------
ÂÂÂÂP#1ÂÂ500.00 EXTEND/WBFS1 [USED]

ÂÂ And the loader will also let you fix the partition table by
ÂÂ pressing 1, which will change the partition type from EXTEND to
ÂÂ a known data type (0x0b, which is also used for fat)

First off, just want to say thanks to the team for this great loader. Second, I have a small issue, and most likely it's my card, but for some reason, it fails to be recognized by the loader. HBC can load from it, wiiflow, and a few other homebrew, but mplayer-ce, config usbloader, and a few other apps fail to recognize the SD card.

It is an 8 GB Kingston Micro SDHC. Like I said, it's not a huge problem, and it's probably just my card, but I can load using my USB HD, but I like having all my apps on my SD card, and all of my resources on my USB drive.

Again, thank you for this great application, and keep up the great work.
Wait, what exactly is your problem? You can't load Configurable USB Loader itself from it, or you can't load games from it using cfg loader? CFG USB Loader can only load from WBFS-formatted SDHC cards, it only supports FAT from USB.

Any reason why you couldn't generate the .wbfs names as gameid_title.wbfs and have the loader ignore everything after the underscore?

It doesn't matter to me either way since I don't use it. Just brainstorming

I haven't noticed anyone comment on this suggestion. I'd certainly prefer this new filenaming scheme; it would reduce the number of files in the wbfs folder by half. As a bonus, I imagine changing to this naming scheme wouldn't affect any existing .wbfs files since the loader would only look at the first 6 characters of the filename anyways.

so im thinking this is a typo lol
CFG 46 or is it 47a
whoops, fixed, it's:
cfg v47a (alpha)
of course
Very minor gripe and it can wait for the next version, but there's another typo in the loader itself. The extended warning message has "partittion" in it. There was another typo that we noticed in chat yesterday at the warning message where it said "parition" too. Did you fix that one yet?

No. I believe I can load the loader. It will not, however, load the themes, or even the covers on the USB drive. I will try and make a video to show you what I mean. Just to try and safeguard myself from trial and error, I have the folder on the USB Hard Drive.

I'm not sure this is your problem as your post sort of just cuts off there, but your themes and covers need to be on the same device as boot.dol.

They are. The problem is that the loader doesn't load the covers or themes.

I had the same problems with my Kingston 4 gig and never found a way to fix it. The loader won't see anything at all on the card, so it won't load images or even my settings, I tried IOS 222 as well and it didn't work. I assume for whatever reason this loader has issues with certain Kingston SDHC cards. It wasn't a huse issue for me though, I just went back to the old smaller card I was using.

Dear Dr. Clipper,

thanks for the quick answer, even if it is a rejection... no probs, this is the better loader "in the market".....

I would like just to point out that my suggestion was not aimed to simplify the HD management (you say "move the file by command line...") but to add another revolutionary feature in the loader itself. Managing the files in a FAT HD is extremely simple and needs no improvement at all.

The idea is to let the people organize in categories the games inside the loader, for example a folder for all of the Party Games, a folder for the Speed Race Games, a Folder for the Sport Games, a folder for the games preferred by the wife, another for the games preferred by the son...

This simplifies a lot looking for the games since you do not have to scroll all of them and you do not have to remember their name to know where to look for them, that is how much to scroll to find them...

Take into accont that a hierarchical category is something miles ahead than the "favorities" management ... and miles ahead also to the favorities management assigning 1-4 stars to the games... all of the users could be free to organize in the loader the games just as they like, with infinite degrees of freedom... I considered this a possible new revolutionary feature and hence I suggested it for this loader. The best loader deserves this kind of attentions...

Thank you again for your awesome job,

Cambo

YOU ARE AWESOME! Thanks for an excellent quality product, I really appreciate it!! Rather than make your head bigger by gushing more.... just thanks!

I have a question, that perhaps someone can assist with. I use Configurable USB Loader to the exclusion of everything else, and I want my BootMii to directly auto boot (instead of booting into the HBC). I haven't been able to find anything. Is anyone able to guide me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Ah, so that's what you meant. I actually suggested something similar to oggzee myself, although he shot it down. I was waiting for someone to suggest this to open up the debate for real
smile.gif
. If there's enough demand for it, he might be persuaded (so if you want this feature, post about it).

It should be noted that this does require a change to the ehc module oggzee has modified from Hermes, and needs some additional function calls, so it is a little bit of work to do, but is possible.

The best method I thought of for this would be just to have a 'games_path=[/wbfs]' theme option. Thus, when you change the theme, the games you can see change with it. Different themes could still use the same path as they do now if you like, and games installed via the loader would only install into the current path. If you want games in two different sets, you would need to have duplicated files on the drive, but that is a minor concern.

I remind everyone that this will take some convincing for it to be performed. If you legitimately want the feature to have a configurable games path for FAT games per theme, then state it here and explain why you want it.

You can only make Bootmii as boot2 autolaunch into the HBC. That's good enough for me, as I modified the meta.xml for Cfg to always have Cfg at the top of the Homebrew list (just put a space at the start of the title).

Actually, I was thinking something easier (even if I do not know how easy it is to be implemented...)

Assume you have the following situation in the FAT HD:

/wbfs/R6LEWR_lego.txt
/wbfs/R6LEWR.wbfs
/wbfs/speed/R69P36_dirt2.txt
/wbfs/speed/R69P36.wbfs
/wbfs/speed/RYXP7J_yamaha.txt
/wbfs/speed/RYXP7J.wbfs
/wbfs/party/RGWE41_rabbids.txt
/wbfs/party/RGWE41.wbfs

Starting the loader I would expect to see the cover of "LEGO Rock Band" game and a couple of folders named "speed" and "party".
If "LEGO Rock Band" game is selected and started, the game is loaded.
If "speed" folder is selected and started, no game is loaded but the content of the folder is shown, hence the covers of "Dirt2" and "Yamaha Supercross" are shown...

Button A could be used to show the content of the subfolder, button B could be used to get back to the previous folder.

We could also think to a file icon.png contained in the subfolder providing the image to be shown in the loader next to the covers of the games...

The benefits are clear, expecially in the case the HD contains many games.... in our computers the files are not placed all toghether alphabetically in the root of the HD...

Let me point out that this feature can be added just now that the .WBFS files in a FAT partition have been given to us by Oggzee...
there where no way to think to something similar in WBFS partitions with the need of WBFS managers...

Oggzee is making us dreaming... this is just another dream...

Thanks
