Bummer! No idea why would that happen. Except if maybe, you pressed A button twice, as it remembers the button presses, i should clear the states before asking such important questions.
But the same thing would have happened with the original loader i guess.

Test of HDD on my computer complete.

WBFS partition fried bigtime, Windows detected the partition (as unformatted, as it should), but not a single WBFS Manager software could touch the partition, because it was "already in use".

So had to delete the partition, unplug, reinsert, and make a new partition, and format WBFS.

Anyways, drive/partition fixed now, gonna stay away from that menu for now
wink.gif

Is it possible for you to try to replicate the problem with the new freshly formatted WBFS partition?

Yeah, repeatable.

Letting the HDD go in to sleep-mode and going in to menu by pressing "1" and then pressing "A" to detect wipes my HDD clean.

However, if I instead try to start the game after the sleep-mode has set in on HDD, the drive detects again no problem and game is started, no wipes.

Now, I'm curious if the original usb loader 1.5 does the same with your drive or not?
I know it's annoying and would try it myself, but my drive doesn't go in sleep mode :s
Also, does it say that it is formatting the drive, or what exactly happens?
Does it say: Retry-On-Fail USB: 1 .. ? How many times?

@oggzee

after pressing "1" and comming to the menu, i press "A" and the following shows:

Code:
[+] Mounting device, please wait...
30 seconds timeout

And i see the HDD trying to "activate" coz the light starts blinking.

takes a bit and it goes straight to the following:

Code:
[+] WARNING:

ÂÂÂÂNo WBFS partition found!
ÂÂÂÂYou need to format a partition.

ÂÂÂÂPress A button to format a partition.
ÂÂÂÂPress B button to restart.

UPDATE:
YES, original "SD/USB Loader 1.5" by Waninkoko also wipes the HDD doing the same in it.

Will check/try in original 1.5 later on.

So, this is with cfg V26 I presume?
And I guess with your previous tries you might have pressed A before the "press A to format" appeared.. or it just thought that A was pressed?
In any case, I will clear the button statuses in next release before asking to format.

To use disc cover art, you have to use cover_style = disc
It won't show both 3d and disc covers, at least not in the current versions.

Yes it was with cfg26, but it is the same in original 1.5 (just tried).

And I am very sure I only press "A" one time in the options menu, and still gives the 30 second countdown, and stand still there for 5-10 seconds, and goes directly to "No WBFS found"

So its not just in cfg26, my guess its ALL loaders that have the "device options menu".

Can we use one of the unused buttons (like 2) to rotate through preview styles, e.g. 2D/3D/disc/screenshot? That way we won't need to specify a cover style setting manually--the loader can just remember the last choice used.

I keep on getting a "retry on failure" error, then it counts to 8, and my Wii goes to the dreaded dump screen and I have to restart it....any way to resolve this?

Been testing all evening...

1. Wii-Menu -> HDD (spindown/sleep-mode) -> HBC -> cfg26 or original 1.5 = no problem.

2. HBC -> HDD (spindown/sleep-mode) -> cfg26 or original 1.5 = no problem.

3. cfg26 or original 1.5 -> HDD (spindown/sleep-mode) = WBFS partition killed.

So it seems that you CAN NOT initialize a HDD that has already been initialized and then gone to "spindown/sleep-mode", then it will kill the WBFS partition.

NEW: cfg v27:

http://sharebee.com/b5e3f018

Changes:

- Clear button status before formatting, so it always asks for confirmation
- Allow to exit from device menu with button B, if device has already been
selected previously
- Fixed crash on device retry-on-failure timeout (no ios reload)
- option: ios = [249], 222

This crash should be fixed with the latest version (27).
Please let me know, how it works now?

I was not able to solve the problem with hdd sleep mode, but at least now with version 27 you can exit the device menu with button B to avoid re-initialization, if you have already selected your device before.

Thanks for the great work oggzee.

just a thing with config r27, I think you forgot to put the right boot.dol in the "inSDroot\apps" folder. The boot.dol there is same as in r26?!?
But the right r27 is in the package also, SDUSB-Loader_cfg27.dol. so no problem renaming and putting in the right folder..
I just point this out if someone else missed this also like i did in the first..

No problem, I guess we should take that issue to Waninkoko.

My first screenshot from inside the loader (Widescreen, so picture looks squished):

Why all the nice background posted, do not follow the original button layout? (Eg: Press 1 for Game Option etc etc) 21 game list layout is the best.

Btw to slove the WBFS killing issue, just remove the whole re-initialization feature (means the initialization onlt occur once - at the startup screen). A feature is removed but an important bug is also removed.

The re-initialization feature can be added in back once the bug is fixed.

Better safe than sorry.
(What is the person above have his 500GB filled up with games then suddenly fried his WBFS because of this bug. Do he wanna re-rip all the disc?)
