Hardware [concept] DIY portable/mini Switch dock.

As far as I can tell this would work, but having not bought a switch yet I don't know for sure.

Step 1: Obtain the official Switch Dock. Either the original or a second one you bought for $100 or whatever.

Step 2: disassemble the dock, and pull out the circuit board and carefully pull out the USB Type C docking port and it's cable

Step 3: Put the board and the Type-C port into a new ultracompact housing, like a 3d-printed version of the concept below.

I plan on eventually modding the dock into a dongle if we don't get any dongle from Nintendo.

This is a cool idea! I don't even own a switch and this interests me. It would be cool to see a wireless charging mod too.

Unfortunately wireless charging probably isn't powerful enough yet to really charge the Switch. It would be similar to trying to charge the switch with a standard phone charger, which doesn't really work.

I have access to a CNC mill so I'd probably just use aluminum myself. Really it depends on what you have access to and what you can do, and I'm not psychic. Maybe you can work with clay. maybe you're happy with cardboard and ductape. I simply don't know what your options are. If you wait long enough someone will be selling plastic shells on eBay for all i know.

Yes it is possible if you put a coil and an ac to dc converter in the switch
But it would void the warranty for sure and would be too technical for most user, i will do it once my warranty ended

I didn't research enough I guess. The Qi Medium-Power specification would probably be enough to power the switch wirelessly.

wood....really?

A lot of people make stuff out of wood, even tablet stands. I don't see why wood is so out-of-the-question to you.
Along with that if anyone really wants a 3d printer it isn't hard to get a good one for around $200 if you are willing to assemble it (which is what I did)

It seems nice, but I'm sure you'll need a lot more support to avoid damaging the USB C connector. I think it would be better to make it into a big dongle.

I suppose making something that could fit in your pocket for you to carry to a friend's house and connect it to the TV.
