Hacking Complete n00b: R4i Gold 3DS

I am getting my first flashcart for my birthday. My 3DS is updated to the latest system software. So, apparently R4i Gold 3DS supports 5.0.0-11 directly after the last software update because Nintendo apparently forgot to block it. So, while my Action Replay was fresh out of the box, it was compatible with the system. My 3DS is updated and I am wondering if there is anything I can do to get around security with my flashcart. Please help!

I can't. I asked my grandfather for R4 Gold 3DS and I don't think he'll like it if I go asking around like that...

Firmware updates DO NOT take affect by simply putting them on the MicroSD.

You need to actually RUN them in some DS model before they take effect.

Please check the official website to decide your r4i gold 3ds can support 3DS5.1.0-11 or not.
If it can support the latest system, there is no need to update it.
Besides, all r4i gold 3ds have been pre-flashed to support the latest system.

I looked at the site before purchasing it. I am pretty sure I said something like that in my post. As for the card, that's what I thought. I think the Action Replay was pre-updated before it was in retail. @Rydian I saw your post, it was really helpful! No more suggestions. --CLOSE REQUEST--

Use the report button, asking within the thread to be locked, won't do anything until you or someone reports the thread to be closed. Otherwise, just leave the thread be and people will come and answer your question.

Now to update an R4i Gold, you will need a DS Lite/Phat/DSi, or a 3DS that hasn't been updated, in order to run the firmware patch.

My sister's DSi has v1.4.4U. Will that do? And will it work if my 3DS is the latest version?

I believe it will work, your card should be pre-flashed to work on DSi v 1.4.4U.

I have no idea, I've never bought from them before.
I normally only buy from sponsors of gbatemp, but most of the shops I bought from have pre-flashed cards to the latest firmware.
