Hello, Got a question about APPLE TV

So I got an ipad (not ipad2), it's JB, everything is Awesome... and now I been watching internet TV shows streaming on the ipad (for example RogersOnDemand its like Netflix, but online only) and so I thought about how cool it would be to have it displayed on my Big Screen HDTV... so I thought about Apple TV... using my ipad I could show my ipad screen on my TV..... But apparently... Apple TV doesnt support internet Browsing... FUCK

But I read that once your Apple TV is JB, you can browse the net on the Big Screen TV...

So My Question is: It seems that to JB an AppleTV... you need to be on a MAC... I only have a Windows PC... can I still do it??

And Also... what does it really do to the Apple TV once it's JB? I have NO CLUE of what it can do I just barely know of its existence LOL So What can it do? Can it do illegal stuff like unlocking all Apple Rentals for free or something? LOL I doubt but I'm curious... I just thought Apple TV was a receptor for iDevices and it could Show whatever is on my iPad on the TV... but it doesnt seem to be that way...

Apparently, Greenpois0n (Windows) jailbreaks the Apple TV, but only on 4.2.1 (untethered)
Once you're jailbroken, you can SSH into the Apple TV and install packages from there (no GUI like Cydia... at least not yet)
But I don't think that there is a way to get free rentals, since it's illegal and no developer would make such a utility since it would steal directly from Apple's servers (as opposed to [Redacted], which gets its resources indirectly)
If you do jailbreak your Apple TV, I recommend that you get XBMC. I great media player that even streams from your computer.

yeah I thought about if there was something like Instalous on the AppleTV LOL but n'ah knew it couldnt be possible.

But that SSH is pretty much jiberish for me... what packages? Where do I get those? Which ones is there?

I checked out XBMC it looks cool but... it's only a media Center? Wifi stream from my PC and thats pretty much it? Sure I got loads of movies on my PC but... meh... I already have a Bluray DVD player with a USB connector which I plug in my hard drive with all my movies on it so XBMC doesnt appeal too much for me. neither is streaming music since my PC Speakers totally out plays my home theatre, and I dont give a F about checking out pictures on my TV... so really what else is there?

My main reason I wanted an AppleTV is to:
1-Browse the net on my iPad and have it shown on my Big screen TV
2-Play games on my ipad and have them displayed on my TV

Feasable? Do I even need to JB the appleTV for this? LOL

Sorry for the lack of updates on my part.

I'm going to add the iBooty section and update the sn0wbreeze sections over the weekend.

The guide has been updated for Seas0nPass 0.7.3, which has been updated for compatibility with iOS 4.3 (though it's tethered).

UPDATE: Apple has released iOS 4.3.1. As always, don't update! I also added an Easter egg out of boredom.

The guide has been updated to include iBooty.

iFish failed, so it basically had to be rewritten...

I heard JB for 4.3.1 is officially out for the ipad1 and ipad will be coming out next week... any signs of truth?
sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta 1 should be able to jailbreak 3.4.1
no idea about ipad 2

sn0wbreeze 2.4 beta 1 is indeed able to perform a tethered jailbreak on iPads running iOS 4.3.1. The guide hasn't been updated for it (or anything that jailbreaks 4.3) yet, but should be available soon. (The steps probably aren't too different from previous versions.)

Before someone decides to bring it up, I have sub-zero intentions of including the tethered PwnageTool jailbreak. You're more likely to see me provide a writeup of playing a pirated copy of Crysis on an NES. (I despise a certain pie-named website that "covers" Apple and Microsoft news.)

Why's that? What happened?

I recall that they gave faulty instructions for downgrading from the 4.3 betas to 4.2.1; iPhone 3G and 3GS owners would be stuck on error 1015 (the Recovery Mode fix wasn't out yet), but... there's just something about them that I dislike. :S

In addition, those PwnageTool bundles are unofficial (not from the iPhone Dev Team) and the process is also rather advanced.

I have a iPhone 4 CDMA with 4.2.5 here
do I have to do anything special or can I just use greeonpois0n RC6.1 ?

If I recall correctly, you can just use GreenPois0n RC6.1.

I jailbroke it but the Loader app just crashes as soon as I launch it
anyone know of where its located in the file system so I can delete it and rejailbreak it?

To my knowledge, nothing supports iOS 4.2.5.

Update (restore if you want, but I see no need for that in this case) to iOS 4.2.6 first, then try greenpois0n again.
