Oookkkkaaay...

As I told you quite a few posts ago, I jailbreaked.
Though I didn't see cydia was installed incorrectly >.<
Blank cydia icon, crashes on launch
frown.gif

But it IS jailbroken, and I backed all my jb'd apps up
biggrin.gif
(including cydia stuff)
And I just manually install them via i-FunBox, which is a usb-ssh client. Which is WAY WAY WWWAAAAAYY faster than regular ssh. (14MB/s file from computer to iPod anyone?)
And thus, I have everything I want. Except cydia >.>
Also, redsn0w crashed multiple times @ the part where your iPod goes *downloading jb data*
Any way to fix cydia?

ssh into your device
download this .deb
place in / (root directory)
run this command “dpkg -i cydia_1.0.3366-1_iphoneos-arm.deb"
(if your using win scp you press Ctrl+t to get a window to run commands, however since i never uses i-Funbox i don't know how to run the dpkg -i command in it)

4.2.1
iPod touch 4g.
And if that's true...

XD
Yup, it sounds like you need to perform a tethered boot.

If it still doesn't work, try reinstalling Cydia with the steps Dter ic provided.

What is the major differences between the iPad's iOS 3.2.2 and 4.2.1?

I seen that Redsn0w jailbreak unthetered the 3.2.2 but thetered the 4.2.1... perhaps I should simply downgrade the iPad's Firmware if the changes arent that major? And I read about the Spirit JB, and it's not covered in the tutorials... means its not good?

I seen posts also about Beta testing the Redsn0w's 0.9.7b1 for an unthetered 4.2.1 but it seems to be MAC only... and not sure if its legit so I'm not touching it until it appears here.

Also I would like to point out, on the first page with all the tutorials... the link for downloading the latest Redsn0w doesnt point to a download section, only to a Dev-team blog... guess its those that made redsn0w, but even on their site doesnt have the proper redsnow version to download.. in their download section, the latest Redsnow is 0.7.1 and dates back 2008 :-( Anyone has the latest version for Windows please?

Thanks!

iOS 4.2.1 brings all of the features from iOS 4.x to the iPad, including (but not limited to) folders, multitasking, AirPlay, AirPrint, and Game Center.

redsn0w 0.9.7 is indeed legit. However, I have not included it in the guide because it's not ready for the general public yet. ("Monte" currently requires you to download a beta firmware.)

Lastly, the download links for redsn0w 0.9.6rc8 are at the bottom of the linked blog post. Here's the link for the Windows version.

so 4.2.1 brings Multitask... which I can live without until a final redsnow 0.9.7 comes to the public... streaming videos and printing is pretty useless for me since I dont own the apple TV nor a printer. And Game center is for online multiplayers? Also useless for me since I dont plan ont playing multiplayer games at all.

So I guess downgrading the ipad to 3.2.2 for an untethered boot would be good for me.

But The Redsn0w tutorial seems to be made for 4.2.1... nothing mentions that on 3.2.2 will have an option for the untethered. will it be pretty much automatic that the ipad 3.2.2 will be untethered after I've run redsn0w on it?

Thanks!

Greenpois0n and Limera1n. They are both one click, so there is nothing to mess up (although you have to put your device in DFU mode). If one doesn't work, try the other.

yes I saw it, but in the tutorial of Redsn0w, nothing mentions about the 3.2.2... is there a different option to select for the untethered jailbreak in 3.2.2?
It's mentioned under redsn0w 0.9.6rc8. As metamaster said, you can use greenpois0n or limera1n to jailbreak 3.2.2 as well. (I'd go with greenpois0n or redsn0w because limera1n was notoriously buggy, though many kinks were ironed out.)

Ok I'll give Greenpois0n a go once I'll get the iPad ;-)

And afterward... is there a tutorial on how to install apps?

And which iTune should I be using for the iPad 3.2.2?
If you mean App Store apps, just install like normal (through iTunes or on the device). If you mean Cydia apps, just browse away on Cydia and tap the ones you like.

Lastly, I think the latest version of iTunes (10.0.1) should be fine for greenpois0n.

Download the app from iTunes. It saves an IPA to your computer.

Seriously, I'd like to ask everyone to please refrain from discussing piracy in this thread.
