Right now I'm doing a chore of cloning a laptop hard drive that's on the verge of failing. I have my destination drive and my adapter...what software do I need to clone it with?

I am using a piece of software called AOMEI Backupper - I usually do this process with actual IDE drives, and I was wondering if anything else is different with SATA drives.

Source drive: 600 gb SATA hdd
Destination drive: 750 gb SATA hdd

If the drive is dying, don't run anything off it. Boot off some Linux LiveCD or something so the drive doesn't have additional wear on it (beyond the actual reading for backup).

Not sure which LiveCD is considered best nowadays. I know I used to use Knoppix for recovery junk all the time.

Yeah, Knoppix is pretty much a godsend. (Actually, I just used my two solutions to do it.)

Apparently my drive had a few hidden recovery partitions. Annoying, but...whatever.
