Hacking "Clean up" hacked Wii

Hi. I have a Wii that's been hacked for several years now. I distinctly remember running cIOSCorp (Or whatever it goes by now) to be able to run backups from the disc channel itself. However, even though I'm on sys 4.3E (latest) there are some games that require a "system update" to be able to boot. One of these is Pac-Man Party and another is Mario Galaxy 2, but I'm sure there are more. I don't actually use the disc channel anymore however, using USBLoaderGX with a HDD.

I want to clean up my wii so that it's as stock as possible. Is it possible to install clean IOS files in any way to write over the patched ones that cIOSCorp wrote many years ago.

I'd also like to remove whatever program is running in the screenshot attached (gamecube loader for discs) as I use Nintendont now from the SD card. I know I can just leave everything as-is and it'll all be fine but I'd rather get everything cleaned up and back to how it should be... if that's at all possible.

If any specific files are needed to do this (backups of NAND, etc) then it's already a lost cause because I didn't know how to back-up NAND many years ago when I modded this console.

You said you are using USBLoader GX and HDD so it is maybe a better Idea to use ModMii to re-mod your Wii.
Removing (Dark) cIOSCorp/Darkcorp is maybe possible but leaves maybe an non USB Loading working Wii behind.

Use modmii to make your Wii clean. There's an option for it.
Then, redo the hacking procedures reccommended by the software.

I ran through the steps, everything seems to be working fine after installing all the clean IOS WADs and even installing a custom home menu. My gamecube disc still reads and can be booted from the home menu but just fails to boot at that point and returns to the system menu though can still be booted by nintendont using the "boot from disc" option. Since it's a backup I'm not sure if it's supposed to even show up on the wii menu and I can't test with a backup Wii Game since I don't have one burned to disc.

Is there a way for me to be able to just test and make sure everything is now cleaned up?

You are correct sir! I thought I read that he wanted to clean it in order to rehack it, but I must have gotten my threads mixed up or something.

If this is the case then he may not be able to play gc backup discs and simultaneously avoid the menu from the screenshot in the first post, I'm not 100% certain about this point though. (edit: but if the objective is to virginize then why are you trying to load backup discs? Are you just testing to see if DarkCorp was removed?)

On another somewhat related note, I created a mod of neogamma (by Wii Power) that can autoboot backup and original GC discs avoiding the menu entirely, but if you hold a button down when the game is loading you can still access the menu and interrupt the autoboot process. I called it the Neogamma Autoboot Mod if I recall correctly in case anyone ever sees this and wants to Google for it. But really these days Nintendont has rendered this sort of thing pretty obsolete

Back on topic, if the objective is to fully remove all traces of softmods on the console then there's still plenty of work that needs to be done, he's still got patched ios's installed, cios's, missing stubbed IOSs, etc. But I've written plenty of long posts about why "virginizing" a wii doesn't make much sense and in and of itself is riskier than (re)softmodding. If anything you can pretty safely partially 'virginize' it by removing visible traces from an optimal softmod, but even then, why bother?

Back to the OP, what do you want to achieve, do you want to be able to put in a backup disc and not have anything load at all? You need a clean unpatched and unstubbed system menu IOS for that (IOS80 in your case). It sounds like you are still using Nintendont and other homebrew though, so maybe share a bit more about what you want to ultimately accomplish

Edit: OK so I reread some posts above, he went and installed a custom theme and mentions usb loading, so I'm going to go out on a limb and assume the OP wants to update the softmods on his console and remove darkcorp and clean up his ios's, etc. If so, mission accomplished, your wii looks like you used the modmii wizard and followed all the steps properly (I'm assuming u also made a nand backup but that's something you can't determine from a Syscheck! Lol).

Edit2: actually scratch that, your syscheck makes no mention of priiloader. I suggest you install it. Also since your wii is old enough to play backup discs it might also be old enough to install bootmii as boot2, you should try installing that too... again remember that now I'm assuming your objective is to ultimately have an optimal softmod configuration. On a related note, priiloader has a system menu hack to force the system menu and/or the disc channel to use ios249, which basically gets most games to work through the disc channel and doesn't require darkcorp. I don't use it, because, well, usb loading, lol! But this point somehow felt relevant to the conversation.

Edit3: DarkCorp is removed on your console but for various reasons having a patched system menu ios is generally considered optimal. This is why your backup discs can still load banners in the disc channel even after using modmii and removing/overwriting darkcorp, but when it tries to reload the backup disc using a stock unpatched ios it will fail unless u enable the priiloader hack I mentioned above

Your System Menu IOS is trucha patched which is why burned games will show up on disc channel but not launch (the game's IOS also needs to be patched for them to launch which is what cIOSCORP/DARKCORP do)
Having the system menu IOS patched has the benefit of allowing installed WADs to be launched from the SD card menu, although this method of launching installed WADs is sort of obsolete when we have emuNAND which has no size limits and unlike the SD card menu doesn't require to copy the game to the internal NAND when launched.
Anyway, there's no real drawback to having a patched system menu IOS and it's probably best not to mess with as if the system menu IOS is somehow broken even Priiloader won't save you from a brick (only BootMii as boot2 would), so my suggestion is to leave that the way it is.

Otherwise, all looks fine.

FYI, to get launching of burned discs straight from the System Menu only cMIOS installed + Priiloader set to force system menu and game IOS to IOS249 is necessary. Much cleaner than overwriting every IOS with cIOSCORP et al. But still comes with potential issues as it can make some legit games not launch if they aren't supported on said cIOS. So using a USB loader is the cleanest option even for launching burned discs. cIOSCORP should never have existed to begin with, in my honest opinion. It causes more trouble than it's worth.

I actually installed CMIOS by following a guide that used CMIOS patcher when installing RVL-mios-v10 to patch it. I'd like to play backups from the disc channel of GC games but it's not really that big a deal since I also have nintendont. The idea was trying to get Pokemon Box to work properly - it hasn't ever worked correct with Nintendont I believe - and that's the sole reason to want to run Gamecube Backups. It turned out to not even work using a patched CMIOS - maybe I simply did it wrong and there's a simple way I could be guided to doing? It's only for one game though since all my others I just run through Nintendont.

This is correct, kind of - I didn't want to "unhack" it, I just wanted to clean out DarkCorp. I planned to still run backups the entire time, but I can do that simply by having USBLoaderGX which I already had, so it was kinda irrelevant.

I remember distinctly installing BootMii - as far as I remember (I haven't tested at the time of writing this post) I can hold down Reset I think and it brings me to the BootMii menu so believe it's already installed. I'll have to check out Priiloader using that hack to see if I can get the game to work.

EDIT: I don't know if I have bootMii installed at all. I don't remember how to access the bootMii menu on boot - was there files needed to be on an SD card for it? Like I said, been years since I messed with Wii on this kind of level haha. I have installed Priiloader but even enabling force games to use 249 still doesn't get my GC backup booting With just Priiloader set to this, it black screens (doesn't boot back to home menu like it had been) and after using https://gbatemp.net/download/cmios-installer.9667/ to install cMIOS, it comes up "Backup Loader 1.1" or something for a second and then just freezes on a black screen. I know it's not the disc itself; it boots fine when loader via the "Boot Disc" on Nintendont.

EDIT2: Seems like after doing a fair amount of research the only way I will be able to fix the whole issue for Pokemon Box is to use an actual disc of it rather than a backup as it relies on some kind of software emulation. For now I think the Wii is now as clean as I'd like it to be apart from the patched system menu (I don't really see the point of this since I don't really use WADs except a couple WiiWare games I have installed). If there's a way I can safely unpatch this to get it back to stock as well, that would be cool.
