Soon, you'll be able to install a CFW on your 3DS, which will allow for piracy among other things.

No it does other checksums, region checks, model checks, whitelisting, warnings...

The hash comes with the pack. You will be able to create your own packs with a bit of effort. That prevents real noobs to choose the wrong CIAs.
Oh and I was looking for a 3DS unzipper implementation. I will take inspiration, thanks!

You have to download the files beforehand. The hombrew checks the hashes of your already downloaded files are correct.

yes but if one was choosing a CIA a noob would break it; I would think it would be more like a NUISDownloader with a hash checker and a list of known sources

Except they won't directly use CIAs. KTM is planned to use its own extension.
