I added this anwser to the OP as it seems like a common question: no, the downgrade won't modify your personal files.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that the badges get wiped out tho when you go under 9.3, but they are linked to NNID.

This could be a bit unrelated to the topic but people got to be careful when they set up their CFW. They will need to back up their sd card since formatting the emunand will format everything.

Yes to both of those, you can downgrade to 4.x with gateway web exploit (I don't see why you would want to) and emunand with rxtools

if you have an original 3DS or 3DS XL, I think you can. 9.0-9.2 is usually recommended though because you can do menuhax and stuff.

Does emunand work without gateway ?

you can use other CFW like rxTools as well.

You can ONLY downgrade O3ds to 4.5. NOT N3ds

I don't know if has already been noticed but Steveice10 made a commit 10 hours ago to memchunkhax2 cleaning code and restructuring data. It's much easier to read through the code now, if anyone is interested.

It now supports N3DS too. But I'd recommend ReiNAND for that.

You don't even need to downgrade your whole system to 4.5 to get MSET exploits. Downgrading MSET (system settings) only to 6.x is more than enough.

If you downgrade MSET to 4.x on a 2DS and format you sysnand, you will brick your system (as you will be stuck on the "3D slider test" screen)
