Does anybody know who found which exploit. Or maybe it was a collaboration of all three. And maybe releasing the knowledge of how to achieve the exploits when they released it was maybe the safest time to release it. (Thinking Nintendo lawsuits here). also I note gateway have said they have been pursuing an exploit to allow full control off all systems upto and including 10.3 for and I quote "over a week".......
Well, releasing an exploit that doesn't DIRECTLY support piracy (i.e snshax and memchunkhax 2) is something nintendo can't really go after. All of the hax were disclosed to nintendo before they were released, but it seems the only way to get them to listen is to post it publicly so for arm9loaderhax and ntrcardhax I'm pretty sure the only reason they released them was to make nintendo do something about it... arm9loaderhax has the potential to brick a system with bad instuctions if the user doesn't have a NAND mod and a previous NAND backup, and ntrcardhax is, frankly, not feasible for someone without an expensive piece of hardware (like a gateway) and will most likely only be used by them and a few other manufacturers looking to make a quick buck... but really look at the FW range of memchunkhax and the other exploits, it was 4.x-9.2 which is a HUGE range... so, what they've done is:
1. Burn a rather rare arm11 kernel exploit
2. Burn what will probably be one of the only hax that needs hardware to exploit
3. Teach Nintendo how to properly check their encryption, or rather what to do after the decryption happens (read: actually checking the file is valid after decryption, though it was more a case of them not following their own usual standards regarding it)
4. Ensure that the piracy caused by it was contained to a small firmware range, 9.3-10.3
