We still don't know what triggers it (a timer is surely involved, but I dunno when it starts) and what it actually does by launching MIOS.

You are almost there, try to think the other way around. What trigger would you use? Oh and if you find out, please don't tell it to others...

Found the trigger, but now, what the hell does it actually do? PS: I won't tell the trigger

It launches MIOS, it seems. I don't have time to look at the code now, otherwise I'd gladly give another look at it.

SO just go to the installer again and pick 56 and it will overwrite 57?
Tried this and Wiiflow still shows IOS249 with base 57. Anyone else getting this?
Use ATD and delete IOS249 then install it again with cIOSX Rev20 installer and see if that works.

No change. Hmmm...

I'm using WiiFlow 1.1 R25 so I don't think I can check what base I'm using but I installed it first as IOS37 then as IOS56 and it was still able to boot MH3.

Couldn't you just download IOS 58 and rename the wad to IOS 57 or one that the installer supports? Unless the installer does specific things to each base IOS, that should work in theory. Unless I'm missing something here

Well, based on my observation, it's more of a conflict than anything else. This is what I have observed exactly.

When I loaded the game from SDCard, I initially put the USBCam in port 0 (Where my USB HDD used to sit), it complains there is no USBCam found. (Note I always restart Wii to make this kind experiment). Then I switch the USBCam from port 0 to Port 1, leave the port 0 open to avoid conflict. When I restart the Wii, this time, there is no complain about USBCam not found, however, the USBCam light won't light up during the setup phase. So this tells me that IOS58 is probably loaded, but the USB HDD driver probably is causing some kind of conflict, that's why it's not functioning correctly. So theorectically, even if one rename IOS58 to ISO57, probably will still be the same problem. Of course, I have no idea what's the cause of this.

@Gamer: Triiforce doesn't work with rev20, no matter which base IOS or slot you use. To have Triiforce working you'll need rev17 (afaik) or else you wait for rev21 which is coming up soon and reenables support for NAND-Emulation.

Ah yes, sorry, I didn't specify... I meant the Animal Crossing freeze bug. Returns with rev20? (I remember having this problem with AC, WC24 and older waninkoko cIOS, but was fixed with rev19, or at least don't have problems with it)

Wow, I have not played Animal Crossing since cIOS rev 9 (back when rev10 caused the bug). I have rev 14 now (for Triiforce) and don't think I've tested it since then.

On the Wiiflow not detecting base 56 thing, this is probably like Cfg. We haven't updated our base detection code yet and thus it can't detect the difference between 56 and 57 as base. Just trust the Wanin installer. If it says it successfully completes, then it successfully completes.

Yes, but I won't tell you either.

J/K. I haven't even bothered to install this yet due to it still not working with TriiForce. I thought he had all sorts of beta testers, but apparently they didn't test the final code he actually released to the public. Strange.

Anyways, as for the trigger, if I were to venture a guess, just from reading his twitter, I'd say it was actually listening to the song to its completion, but that seems rather simple to figure out, so probably not.

Don't know what the Easter Egg is, but finally being able to transfer my GT5 DLC onto my SD card is enough for me.

Using 249 base 56. (Although Wiiflow shows it as base 57)

for the easter egg, from the code and some googling i can get this much:
when the main thread is run it calls epic_init
epic_init queues a 500 second timer that causes epic_main to run
epic_main sees if the eject button is pressed and it increments a count and starts a 125 sec timer to recheck
the 5th time while the eject button is pressed it calls epic_trigger which makes the led blink, waits 5 secs, resets the dvd drive, waits 5 secs, and calls es_leetstuff,
i can't deduce what es_leetstuff does, it looks like it sends a 0x1337 command to the sd card but that doesn't really make sense

We still don't know what triggers it (a timer is surely involved, but I dunno when it starts) and what it actually does by launching MIOS.

You are almost there, try to think the other way around. What trigger would you use? Oh and if you find out, please don't tell it to others...

Methinks this is related to the new sooper-seekrit feature mentioned in NeoGamma a few revs back. I'd say a trigger in the loader would be it. Someone care to search the NeoGamma source for 0x1337?

The secret function in NeoGamma and the easter egg in the cIOS only have in common that they have to do something with gamecube.

Oh and the secret function in NeoGamma is not included in the official .dol.
