Hacking cIOS' questions.

Okay I softmodded my Wii about 2 months ago, I used a pack I found online using the Twilight Princess hack on my 3.4U system, brought it down to 3.2 and I installed a few Starfall options, such as skip disc update and adding the recovery system. The cIOS that came with it was IOS16-64-v257-prod.wad. About 3 days ago I downloaded a Majora's Mask game and realized I needed a new cIOS to play it so I downloaded and added to my Wii this file, IOS53-64-v4113.wad.

Okay now here is my question, does the second cIOS I installed override the first cIOS, or do they co-exist within the Wii? The reason I am asking is I was thinking about installing the cIOScorp since I thought it would be cool to be able to play backups through the disc channel. So am I good with the cIOS' I have, or do I need to install a different one first?

CIOS' overwrite over whatever latest one you installed. I have used CIOSCorp without a problem myself, so go ahead and give it a shot.

Ahh! I have been wondering this also, and was weireded out when my Wad Manager didn't break while installing CIOScorp Complete manually

What's the best way to install cIOScorp? I heard you can do it manually or with a pack. And what are all the functions of cIOScorp? I know it allows you to play most games through the Disc channel, any other things it does?

I'm pretty sure IOS16 installs in slot 16 and IOS53 installs in slot 53 in the wii's nand. (isn't that how it works?). Therefore, installing IOS53 shouldnt affect IOS16

From the IOS files that you listed, you have installed IOS16 and IOS53, which are separate, and would not overwrite each other. They are distinct, do different things, and sit in different spots in the file system. If you were to get a new version of either if the IOS files and install it, it would overwrite the previous version of the same IOS. Hope that helps.

Okay I think I got you now. Each number is a seperate file completely and does different things.
Is there a list anywhere of the best cIOS's to get?
Also with just the cIOS I have if I try to install cIOScorp and I accidently brick my system, which I heard can happen while installing it, can I "unbrick" the system, since I have Starfall installed with the System Recovery Menu.

Okay I download cioscorp package and with it came 3 folders _MACOSX apps and ciosorp.
In the _MACOSX folder is an apps folder, in there is a DS Store file and a corpinstaller folder, in the corpinstaller folder is a meta xml document.

In the apps folder there is a DS Store file, and a corpinstaller folder, in that corpinstall folder are 3 files; boot.dol, icon and meta.

And in the cioscorp folder are 21 wads, all look to be cios files.

My question is how do I install all of this, or what all do I need to install?

Okay, I put all the files to my SD card and ran the installer, worked perfectly, now all my NTSC games are working in my disc channel, so thank you all for the help. Now I have a few more questions.

1. Ever since I installed MIOS Version 5 patcher none of my Gamecube games, even the original ones will load up through the disc channel, I need to load them all through the GCN Loader, anyway to get originals or backups to run through the Disc Channel?

2. Is there anyway to get NTSCJ or PAL games to run through Disc Channel?

Also I am kinda confused about the 4.0 update. Since I already have the HBC, and have installed Starfall and the cioscorp, if I upgrade to 4.0 what all will I lose? What all do I get to keep? And is it true you can no longer install wads on 4.0? What about the downloaded VC titles, can you still install and play them?

Okay I figured out what my problem was with the Gamecube games, I had Region Free Gamecube listed in Starfall, removed that and the games load fine, backups and all in the Disc Channel.

Now I still need to figure out if there is a way to play NTSCJ and PAL games through Disc Channel.

The easiest way without installing any new cIOS's would be to put GeckoOS on your SD card, or get the GeckoOS channel. If you use that to boot games it has a freeloader option that will let you boot any region game. However if you're TV doesn't suport the video mode it may not work.

Okay I did the Any Region thing to go back to 3.2, just needed to reinstall it, added the Starfall type hacks, installed preloader, and installed the cIOScorp and now all my discs are reading through disc channel, Wii, GC, and all the regions. Now the final question I have is, is there anyway I can get to version 4.0 with keeping the option of loading all my games through the Disc Channel, and with keeping the ability to add and use wads, such as downloaded VC titles?
