Hi. Another user asked about this cios and it makes me think..
Why only vwii guides mentioned the install of cios 251 base 58 ?
I know this is for usb 2.0 support, so it makes more sense on the wii and not the vwii since it comes with ios 58 natively.
Can any expert explain why is this difference?

A real Wii also comes with IOS58 if you updated it in the last 8+ years ;)

I am often critical of "guides" because they tell you to do something that may actually get you to a goal, but will rarely explain why they went this way or the alternatives you could have taken - which in the case of CIOS are many: you can install any arbitrary choice of CIOS distribution, built on an arbitrary base IOS, and stick into an arbitrary slot number - and that would be fine!

For instance, many guides [still] recommend using base 36 for 249, since that's been conventional since 2009; but base 37 gives better game compatibility with little drawbacks, to the extent some like FIX94 recommend using it as your only CIOS unless you specifically need others (and, myself, I don't use CIOS at all on Vwii - I run commercial games in enhanced vwii mode, and all major homebrew that formerly had a good reason to use CIOS like wad managers can now use AHBPROT to make temporary patches at runtime)

yes, I know 4.3 update comes with ios 58 for Wii. so do vWii.
so my question is what's the purpose of installing cios 251 base 58 on vWii !?

if the guides instruct to install this cios on wii <4.3 I can understand...
