Chrono Trigger coming to Wii Virtual Console

Okay, we had Chrono Trigger for the SNES, for the DS, why do we need it on the Wii? How many times will we have to re-purchase this game? Aren't there any more interesting titles you can port to VC? Seriously?

More ways to play a game are always welcome imo.
I live in te Netherlands and Chrono Trigger was never released here for the original SNES.
And the SNES version isn't cheap or something. A US copy fetches around 90 euro (110 dollars) here.
To make it even more difficult to play Chrono Trigger in Europe is the fact that the DS version only was released here in limited quantities. So it's very hard to find either of those in Europe.
So this VC release is very welcome for europeans who want to play chrono in its full glory for a small price

Yay know I can play through it again, this is one of my all time favorite games. Time to stop playing the crappy PS1 version that I bought yesterday. Now if only Earthbound would finally get released for VC my Wii would finally get played again.

How about a PSX then?I never owned a PSX, and while I did have a PS2, I didn't have chrono trigger... in addition it's going for over $20 on ebay (versus this $8), and you can just play it on your Wii instead of an older system you may not have.

Also, Chrono Trigger is arguably the best RPG ever created. It's pretty much the grand daddy of RPG's (even though others came out before it), Chrono Trigger is the one that got it right with the music, combat, story, characters, everything was perfect.

This is only the fourth re-release of this game. And it's great because the PSX and DS versions are hard to find as well as the SNES version. If you don't like it, simply don't post in this thread then if all you're going to say is that.

That's what it's for. My point was that there's a dozen of better games that aren't available on other consoles they could've released instead of a game that's available on the SNES, the PSX and the most recent DS.

Arguably is an understatement. I saw nothing spectacular in it.

Fourth? SNES version, PSX version, PSX on a compilation disc version, DS version and now the VC. That's five. Five releases of the exact same game. Aren't there any other titles they can release on the VC that are worth interest?

5 ports, nothing compared to Final Fantasy 1. Honestly this is one of the best Square games in along time (although I would love to see a port for Chrono Cross more) and honestly deserves a port here and there. Looking at the time between the ports it does give enough time for new gamers to get to experience the game as well some nostalgia for the old fans.

I simply think that a game that was recently ported to the DS shouldn't be ported to the Wii instead of other games that are waiting in the queue for a re-release. Let's face it - every Wii owner on the planet has a DS.

Lately I've seen the game for about 10 pounds in the local game store. It's *not* a rare find, really.

Eh, Chrono Trigger is one of the best rated RPGS of all time, the DS version has a 92 on metacritic with 57 reviews!
Most of the final fantasies/rpgs don't come close in terms of review scores.

The game is amazing, but I wont be getting it.

I would prefer a DS/3DS remake; FF4 style.
