Lately when/if i try to load cheats onto a game via AR, the game will not load or it will freeze.

The only games that I know have an anti-cheating feature are Pokemon Black and White. Even if you use Black and White on a regular DS. Gee you gotta love Nintendo with how they treat their consumers like caged animals.
