Homebrew Cheat in Gamecube Games using Wii

While playing Phantasy Star Online I & II with Devolution, i've lost my character file an 400 hours of hard work are gone.
Instead of playing 400 hours again, i'm searching for a way to cheat on my gamecube games using my Wii.
I've been following this guide, but i get stuck on the loading screen on geckoOS, after the software applied the cheats (tried both 0.91 and 0.92).
Is there any other, "newer" way to cheat on my GC games?

I appreciate any help.

Try Nintendont. It has completely replaced Devolution.

Tried it for 3 hours. The game won't load via nintendont as long as the .gct file is placed in the /game/ folder. I have to deactivate the cheats in the settings to get the game starting.
