I'm just curious about your choice/preference of character/roles to play in a game. When you're a magician, would you go for offensive? healer? or summoner?
As a ranger, would you like bows over guns? or would you like to set up traps?
Do you prefer wielding swords with shields. Heavy armor or light clothes? Maces? Axes? or Spears?

Or maybe summoners/builders(like setting up towers)/mounted(riding a mecha/ship/horse/dragon)?

How much do you like characters with twists like lightning having a gunblade, mechromancer able to summon deathtrap, or a bellato specialist in rf online where you can ride a mecha where others are just on foot?

Light nimble fighter with nice agility.
Usually daggers or short sword.
Any basic magic enhancements if possible, but not any staff wizardry.

Basically the thief/ninja/rouge class of any RPG

I think that's less a twist and more just kind of dumb.

For me, I tend to like play as warriors. My sword wielding, heavy-armor wearing tanks take pain and dish it back out like its nobody's business.

I like playing characters that dual wield swords and can attack fast. Though, usually games don't have a stat that increases attack speed so instead of a Rogue character I tend to go with dual wielding Warriors.

I'm the heavy-armored tank most of the time, that can deal damage to multiple enemies at the same time.

no love for magician class?

This is where I come in, I like playing a cleric. Mostly because healing I know can be useful to a group if I ever get in one, and secondly in Table top games they are generally easy to play. Personal spins on them though is I would prefer to have them be a bird person if I can Harpy, spotted owl.

This extends out into video games as well where I'll pick a healer if I can, often staying out of the battle to just support and buff. Most recent games give healers guns to so I often end up being the sniper of the group. If I can't specifically pick a cleric/healer class (Tales of the world: RM) I will pick up a thief or fighter. Anything that can deal damage fast and decently.

I usually choose a thief/rogue type class but always end up playing like a straightforward warrior. I'm probably doing it wrong.

I usually play a dual wielding warrior with light armour and high crit/agility.

Such as the ninja (can't remember if ninja's are duel wielding, but they're awesome nevertheless).

So many rogue/thiefs here. I prefer high movement/agility with dual wielding swords/daggers myself; dodging things is totally better than blocking things. High attack speed is also nice; go in, hit an enemy a bunch of times and dodge when it tries to attack back :P

I prefer the characters can have maximum stats like heroes or paladins.

in games that can be played in groups, I like the ranger type, while everyone is attacking the enemy directly, I just have to attack from far.

My most preferred style is typically a tanky warrior with a focus instead on DPS.

As specific roles

Warrior-type: Heavy armor and a pole-arm, or any 2H weapon really.

Thief-type: Katars. I tend to focus on massive DPS through super high attack speed.

Mage-type: Single target DPS

Cleric-type: Hardly ever play, except in Eden Eternal because cleric is basically godmode.

I can use any class as long as its fast. I like to diversify myself in all roles, but I also like to be really quick about the way I play. I just can't do stealth, I'm to impatient to sneak around.
I can't use a TANK, they normally are hulking and slowed down due to heavy armor and such.
And I can't do mages due to their sometimes terrible defense, annoying/repetitive majicks, and whatnot.

When I play skyrim, I usually role with an Argonian, with a bow and short sword, light armor, MAXED acrobatics/athletics/stamina, and then I just speed kill everything.
It's funny when I fight giants, I just run around them thwacking em with a short sword a good ten times, then running like he'll cuz they can't catch me.

Similar logic to Depravo here- my usual way of playing a game is pick a class and skew it as hard away from the intended route as I can (keeping the game playable if I am playing a roguelike or something where you can build a character that can not win). If I can skew it towards skill/speed of my mouse or button presses rather than dice roll then that too.

To that end games that support such things (borderlands does an amazing job here despite being quite limited in places). Weapons wise it varies but spear or staves if I can and maybe not sniper rifle but decent range when I can, I will note I really enjoyed chakrams in Kingdoms of Amalur though.

I rarely have a desire to min-max my would be character either and do not have much patience for those that would spend time doing as such. That said when I wander across a wikia article/faq on the matter I can be considered useless for the time it takes for me to read and ponder it.

Mages all over, except in games where it's not possible. Mages just make it fun, especially in the later stages of most games (Baldur's Gate 2: first a weak mage with only a few spells, but then bang, you get cloud kill :creep: ).

Borderlands and such games I tend to play as sniper/assault types. Sniper for the fun of surprising enemies and assault just to make use of "the run while firing an assault rifle and hit them with a shotgun round when close enough". (Why? Because it's possible and makes the games a lot more riskier when facing tougher enemies)
