    EDIT2:
download link for the logo psd: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ojzusym26n9797p/wiiUlogos.psd?dl=0
(contains like 60 games) you'll need to save them as tga separately

    ---------------------

EDIT1: Got it to work on 5.5.2 with cbhc

so you just use fptiiu everywhere with cbhc, connect with a ftp client and you need these directions:
usually normal icons of games are stored in storage_mlc01 (or usb) /usr/title/00050000/title id of game/meta
but icons of games that have patches overwrite the icon that is located in 00050000, so you have to change out the icon in storage_mlc01 (or usb) /usr/title/0005000e/title id of game/meta !! that did it.

and as known the tga file must be exact the same size as the old one. and it has to have the footer hex
    Code:
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 54 52 55 45 56 49 53 49 4F 4E 2D 58 46 49 4C 45 2E 00 00 00 00 00
    that worked for me.

so no wupserver was needed. everything worked with the latest ftpiiu everywhere

    ---------------------

    Hello,

is there a way to change Channel Icons of various Games? For Example the Tekken TT2 Icon/Channel Logo sucks and i would like to use my own.
    How do I do that?

I want to use my custom made Game Icons to make the icons looks more uniform

    Thanks in advance. :)

Wow... This is great. Some of those icons are an eye sore.
    Thank you @godreborn -
Quick question - Do I use ftpii everywhere to edit the contents of that location?

the only thing that will happen if you mess up is a question mark tile for the icon. it won't hurt the system any. just make a backup before messing around, 'cause the game won't be bootable if you mess up.

so i downloaded ftpii everywhere and went to the directory. found the right game with the title id... made a backup of the original and swapped it out. (size of the tga stayed the same)
rebooted the wiiu and the icon didn't change. still the old one. and game does start normally

I'm not sure. I don't know why that happened. that's never happened to me before, but I've only done it a few times. this was the meta folder? does the original look like the original? I don't even think you need to reboot for changes to take effect. there's an indexer that sorts this, but it doesn't save the files afaik. it just links to them.

have you tried redownloading the iconTex.tga to see if it's actually been changed?

yes i checked that. after i rebooted my wiiu i connected again to ftp, dragged the icon again to desktop and it was the changed one. whats weird is that it still displays the old one..
    looks like cache or something.

I don't know. I changed the icons and tv/gamepad display to loadiine and possibly wup gx2, and I didn't encounter this problem. I did it with wup though:

    Code:
    w.up("iconTex.tga ", "/vol/storage_mlc01/usr/title/00050000/10198900/meta/
    iconTex.tga"
I believe that title id is to yoshi's island though. I think this was before ftpii u everywhere. I don't see why it would make a difference though. also, this is on page 2 of my tutorials thread on the same site. it contains many of the wup commands.

come to think of it, that might've been after. I changed the icon, boot logos, and boot sound with yoshi's island to that of redNAND. I think that's what I'm thinking of. that's why I left that title id. the other two I believe came afterwards. afaik, there's no cache for this. the change should be immediate without rebooting. that's what I remember anyway.

i'm in CBHC cfw so that should be working. maybe i have to replace all the tga files? i will try to use another ftp program (used cyberduck before). do you have any recommendations?

also in this thread you linked someone said you need to add a footer hex?
    Code:
    00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 54 52 55 45 56 49 53 49 4F 4E 2D 58 46 49 4C 45 2E 00 00 00 00 00
    but why and how? :D

as long as you're using cbhc's version, it should work. however, I'm not sure if you can even get into one of the storage mediums without using that version of cbhc. I don't believe you need to replace all tga files. I changed them all though, but I don't think that's necessary. the indexer links to each file including the main executable in order to speed up loading especially with an hdd. I used filezilla. you need to add that with a hex editor. that footer is what I found in other comparable files. however, I don't know why your either didn't change or why it didn't change to a question mark tile. https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-create-edit-tga-files-for-haxchi.465027/

it looks like there's a couple differences in the footer. I copied and pasted mine when I added it, so I may have messed up somehow. either that or both are acceptable. tga files should have truevision at the bottom anyway.

can't get it to change no matter what i do. tried several different tga files with online converters etc and tried another ftp software. icon didn't change altough i am replacing it in the right folder and game is still starting. i don't get errors or questionmarks.

why doesn't it change or take any effect? not even brake the game ... the image is clearly swapped out with a new one

edit: i'm on 5.5.2, maybe something changed and another file has to be edited too ?

ftpiiu doesn't work for tga on my Wii U either, I only can transfer .xml files, any other file just corrupt the whole thing.

I'm using haxchi CFW, and FileZilla, I even tried transfer from phone and the issue still persist.

Strange enough I can download/upload files to the SD card just fine, it just corrupt the files when uploading to the Wii U hdd...

I'm on 5.5.2 and my games are on usb.
