I was looking at the tutorial video and I noticed during normal operation, you have to click on the Sudoku icon to start the iEdge. Is there any way to change this icon, like to 'iEdge' or something?

That icon is there for a reason. If it wasn't there, then it wouldn't work on DSi 1.4. And that'd be pointless, as most DSis in the world are 1.4 now.
