This works! Dump Fortnite save, change settings in the .ini file to your liking, save, make file Read-only, restore the save into your switch, done.

I dumped my Fortnite save using Checkpoint because I had a slight hope that the file would contain the game's settings. Surely enough, it does. I changed UnlockFPS to true, ShowFPS to true, and Vsync to false. I saved it and restored the save using Checkpoint again, and it didn't work as far as I can tell. The game sticks to the defaults that are unchangeable under normal means. I'm hoping that someone will be able to figure out a way around this. Just wanted to post this because I thought it would be neat to know.

Edit: Made the file Read-Only and it worked!

I don't think Epic would take your game's settings into consideration, since on PC these are basically the same as changing the settings normally. (Though it is pretty cheap since you can actually set ShowGrass to false.)

The FPS meter shows up in-game right next to the mini-map. I haven't gotten the FPS to unlock yet either. I made the thread thinking that this setting is what did it, but so far it hasn't worked, and I can't change the title.

Could you share a clean game with the unlocked settings?

I dont really recomend it. Before season 3 fortnite already had a unlock fps option on consoles, but with a warning that activating it may cause controller desync issues and lag.

The game is running at 30 fps and unless epic games manages to get 60 on switch, unlocking the fps will mess up your gameplay.

I made the thead thinking that this didn't work, hoping someone would be able to work around it for the purpose of Unlocking FPS. Seems like the game itself is locked to 30fps. You can still mess around with the other stuff to (maybe) get better graphical fidelity for fun.

So I've tried multiple times now, but can't get any of the options to work. Can I have your .ini file? I've tried read only, but still haven't worked so yeah.

It's kind of like cheating, considering everyone else doesn't even know the framerate cap can be removed. I wouldn't be surprised if you got banned just for this, especially if you play on platform-specific servers.

The PC version always uses cross-platform servers, which means players WILL have different settings and may also play with a mouse+kb instead of being forced to use a controller (basically you play at your own "risk").
The Switch version doesn't allow the player to remove the FPS cap, therefore it wouldn't be fair if you did it anyway with a hack. If the XB1/PS4/mobile versions do allow it, then it's fine, since anyone on that specific platform can do it.

Note that a higher FPS means you will see the next frame a few milliseconds earlier (lower frametimes), possibly even before your opponents! That's why it's "cheating." More detailed explaination here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/change-video-settings-on-fortnite-unlock-fps.507222/#post-8046666

EDIT: "next frame" doesn't necessarily mean anything in it, as it depends on the position of the camera, etc...
I meant that if you play at 60 FPS, you will see a frame every 16 ms and if you play against someone who's running the game at 30 FPS and sees a frame every 33 ms, that might be cheating.

Lmao you clearly have 0 idea how FPS works if you think you can see stuff before other people.

    ROFLMAO.

Just...no. Don't make stuff up if you don't know what you are talking about. Lololololol

I didn't make it up. Why do you think "pro" gamers prefer playing on 144 MHz monitors with FreeSync/GSync? To reduce latency.
Higher FPS=less time before the next frame is drawn. Assuming you have a 60 MHz monitor, each frame is duplicated at 30 FPS, or quadrupled at 15 FPS (and you can tell it LAGS). After all, FPS stands for Frames per Second, doesn't it?
On the PC version you can even enable the FPS counter, which will also count the time between frames (you should see the latter decrease as the former increases).
Sure, it's just a few milliseconds, but that's actually a lot for some players.

Posts such as yours are useless unless you have a counterargument, and you didn't explain anything. Instead, you literally assumed I was wrong and did no research at all.

By the way, it also makes the game look smoother (duh), but some people can't tell the difference.
