ROM Hack Change controls in Smash?

Is there a hack to make player controls dpad only? Super Smash would play better this way and the analog nub wouldn't wear out as fast.

I think the sliding pad works well enough in games that actually need it. Smash is not one of them since its a 2D fighter. I've played it on wii u and I always take the wiimote(dpad) over an actual controller for better precision.
