Hacking CFW on "new" 2ds Question.

I have a "New" 3ds XL with Boot9Strap 1.2 (haven't updated to 1.3 yet) and Luma 8.1. It has a cracked top screen with a bunch a dead pixels making it incredibly hard to see things on the top screen, especially words. I recently bought a "New" 2ds XL, and was wondering if there was a way to get CFW on the "New" 2ds without buying a dsiware game. I do have the source 3ds of the same region and OFW version so that's not a problem. I did read 3ds.guide, but it was slightly unclear with the two different methods and if they both needed a dsiware injection. If someone could tell me I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Put CFW on it, and then system transfer. Either way you'll have to buy something, and a DSiWare game would be cheaper, but you'll eventually want to buy a flashcart anyway.

I confused by you saying put cfw on it then transfer. The only way to do that would be with a hardmod. (unless I don't understand the process correctly.) Isn't a system transfer part of installing CFW on the "New" 2ds. The "New" 2ds is automatically on 11.5 out of the box.

And, yes, I would much rather buy a DSiWare game rather than a flashcard. Why would I eventually need a flashcard? I used CFW for quite a while on my old "New" 3ds and never needed a flashcard.

The only ways you can do it without a hardmod would require you to use your broken console; either to use DSiWareHax with a system transfer, or to inject NtRBootHaX on a compatile flashcard.

You never NEEDED a flashcart and you don't now. However NTRBootHaX can install CFW on ANY 3DS/2DS console on the market on any firmware with very few steps. It's the ONLY exploit that can do that. Otherswise, your only option is the dsiware transfer.

I am planning on using my broken console. There is enough space on the top screen to still be able to do stuff. What I'm understanding now is that buying something is required. It is impossible without a dsiware title.

Quick Update: It says on the list of compatible DSiWare titles list on 3ds.guide that it needs to meet specific size requirements. Do I need to worry about this or are all the ones on the list okay, with no extras needed?

All the ones on that list work.

Flashcarts (with a t, not d) let you store all your DS games on one cartridge. The 3DS is backwards compatible with the DS, so it's able to use them.
