Just installed Haxchi/CBHC by following the .guide.

Everything else works fine. I can install things with the homebrew downloader and everything.

When I go to launch the HBL channel, it just goes to a black screen. Is there any reason for this? Thanks.

Also, can Wii Us play DVD-Rs? I burned a multi disk for my Wii only to find that mine doesn't have the right drive.

I think you need the hbl to be in the right location. was it working before?

not sure about dvrs. from what I understand about the wii u is that "bluray" discs are read in reverse from normal bluray, most likely to prevent piracy. you may have to use some sort of video app. I'm not an expert at the system, so someone else may know for sure.

Really!! The wii U can read dvd's and blueray movies... Nah I can't can it?

Yeah, everything is in the right place.

The channel installed to the system menu, and I can click on it. It's just when I do, it goes to a black screen and freezes.

Everything else works fine, just not he HBL channel.

no. it reads its discs in reverse from what I've read. it's most likely an ap measure. it can't read bluray movies or dvds, possibly due to this. the bluray discs it uses aren't really bluray discs either, just some proprietary format developed by Nintendo and I think Panasonic or something (trying to base this on memory).

yeah, I think wii u discs read from the outside of the disc inward while normal bluray/dvd games read from the inward outward. iirc, the wii was the same way. I could be wrong though.

I could've sworn that there was an app for the wii that could read dvds, not sure about the wii u though.
Later Wii drives (D3-2 and D4) blocked in hardware non-Wii DVDs (copied Wii games, dvd-video, generic data discs - no difference), needless to say the same logic was put into the WiiU drives (all of them, not that people documented revisions - if any)

As for the channel version of the HBL, I don't remember it having any particular requirements - try reinstalling it from http://www.wiiubru.com/appstore/channels/ ?
