Does it type multiple letters when you hit only one? If so, sounds like somebody dropped some liquids in it.

I suggest buying a new keyboard. They aren't too hard to replace or anything. If it happens again, just hook an external keyboard up to the laptop.

It can happen when there's damage inside the keyboard (caused by liquids or impact). It can also be caused by malware, but I thought that type died out some 6 years ago.

It might be malware. That would explain why it stopped so suddenly. I'm doing an antivirus scan right now.
