My bad, I somehow managed to overlook the title and think he was talking about Wii discs, lol. Anyway, he can use DML as FIX94 suggested, stick with retail discs, or get an older drive.

I guess that's what i have to do.. i didn't want to have to go to that extreme.. but i must do what i gotta do.. i've seen the instructions..and it seems like this will take awhile to do.

Well if you dont want to use DML, you can always get an older DVD board, a WODE, or a Wiikey fusion (i think, the one with SD card slot).
