Gaming Can't format microSD card

I cannot format my Sandisk 8gb miscroSDHC card. I have tried what i think is everything, but if you have suggestions, I'll try it, even if I already have.

This is the second card this has happened to, and I'm not willing to buy another one. Should I just give up on SD cards?

When I plug it into my computer, it gets extremely hot, and when Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit tells me to format it, it says that it's only a 30.9 mb card. I know this card isn't a fake, it used to work.

Do a low level format, also try another card reader. If this is the second time it's happened to you, it's probably a cheap card reader causing it.

Yes or even try from another computer. Try "Testdisk" on it if a fast format fails. Perhaps a table corruption. You can recover some cards with linux or live "rescuedisk" format or recovering tools.

Firstly, it could be fake even if it ever worked. To me it sounds like it is broken internally. Anyway, what steps have you tried? First try panasonic formater and if that fails try Low level format. Warning, The drive your os is installed in shows up. make sure you select the right drive or you will erase your HDD.

Thanks for the replies so far. I do consider myself technologically inclined, but can you please be specific and note steps to take? Thank you. I have tried multiple readers. I have tried the HDD Low Level Format Tool.
