I'm aware that Nintendo DS cannot connect to anything other than open networks or WEP networks, but I don't really know how to set up an open network using a mobile hotspot. My iPhone requires a password for wifi and so does my Windows 10 PC, but knowing Windows I'm sure there's some way around that. Does anyone know what could work for making my Windows 10 PC an open hotspot for my DS to connect to?

Yes go to the thrift store and buy a very old router and dasy chain it off your router and then connect ds to that

your phone probably has a mobile hotspot option. you need to set that up if you want to use your phone. it will have its own password and ssid (can be named). that's what you'll input, not your router's.

It never worked via my phones hotspot via its open no password connection is why I got an old ass router from the thrift store

I think I found the problem. I don't think the ds can use anything but wep, which is like having no security. my ds is recognizing wpa2 as wep, but inputting the password doesn't work.

I have these two, will they connect my ds to the internet?

Fyi I am using google wifi now.

If you have access to a mac you can forward the connection from your iPhone to create an unsecured connection. Just look up internet forwarding. I don't use windows 10 so i'm not sure if it has the same kind of utility.
