I have tried to back up my sons saves on his wii sd card
But when I insert the sd card into the pc card reader
I cannot see the contents of the card
no saves etc.It just shows an empty 2 gig sd card,
I am running windows xp sp2
I just put the card in my sons wii when bought new
should I have formated the wii card before use

Can anyone suggest anything thanks.

are you sure you've copied all the files to the sd card in the wii options menu?

I mean, It's not enough to only put it into the wii, since the wii save to an internal memory. You have to copy everything you want to save to the sd card first, then put it in your computer or something

+ Depends on which games you want to backup savefiles; some games won't let you copy the savefiles.
For these games (ex. pokemon, battalion wars, sonic & mario olympic games... the ones which give access to wifi), you'll need the Waninkoko's tool to backup their savefiles.

You probably haven't mounted the card properly.

The card is treated as an external drive, so it'll need a driver to run.

If it isn't detected upon insertion, you're going to have to look on the card reader's site for a driver.

Thanks Issac thats why there was nothing on the sd card,
I just took it for granted that the saves would go directly to the sd card,
Thanks again you have saved me pulling out my hair lol.

Strikers charged is a wifi compatible game and it has save transfer capabilities.

Wow, I guess I gave you more credit than that. I thought you were having a technical issue with the card itself...

Correct, it let you copy (PARTIALLY) the savefiles BUT
UNcorrect coz it doesn't allow you to backup ALL your DATA... the save you get isn't complete.

NOTE: A few people are moaning about the .wad for the homebrew channel. They say it will muck up your wii if you install it and then update via the update feature in the homebrew channel (when a update comes out) So you choose: either using the .elf or .wad. I recommend the .elf way, you never know these crazy people might be right ;). I'll still keep the .wad up in this post, i have no reason to remove it.
