Hacking Question Cannot boot into OFW / CFW after nand restore

I've searching pretty much for the past 2 days but cannot locate a solution yet for my issue. Any suggestion would greatly be appreciated, thanks.

1. Switch was currently on ofw 7.0 with a nand backup
2. Downgrade it to 6.2 with ChoiDuJour and ran into issue, don't remember what was the error.
3. Panic and restore nand backup and now it will only boot into RCM
4. I get a "Failed to launch firmware" when trying to launch CFW
5. I get a "pkg2 decryption failed!" with "Failed to launch firmware" error.
6. Tied "how-to-install-run-any-switch-firmware-unofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/" with no help. I cannot get pass step 7 when trying to "
ChoiDujour.exe path/to/firmware/file/or/folder" with many different type of keys from 2 different switch with firmware 4.1 and 6.2

My chances are looking slim but if anyone can provide me with some kind of direction or something it would be greatly appreciated...maybe a small 'tip' if someone can provide a solution? Thank you.

You lost me at Step 4. If you just did a NAND Restore in Step 3, then how are you trying to launch CFW in Step 4?

Is your NAND Backup not a vanilla backup of your NAND?

Sorry, not sure on the terminology. I did a restore using hekate 4.9 under "Tools" and "Restore eMMC Boot0/1" and "Restore eMMC RAW GPP" both are "full" restore. It was after that step that I was no longer able to boot into ofw or cfw through hekate.

It appears that pkg1 and pkg2 on your backup are from different firmware version.
On which version did you backup your NAND?

On another note: If you wish to continue with the guide, you can now dump your keys through a payload.
Download Lockpick_RCM and push it to your Switch. Your keys will be dumped to /switch/prod.keys on your sd card.

Yep, from what I have found that seems to be the case. I've already tried lockpick_rcm also with the other 2 switch and they both error out when trying to use ChoiDujour.exe. Both of the errors seems to be related to the keys but not sure why it's erroring out if the keys are straight from the switch. Another thread mention that you need to get the 'right' key but not sure where to look for the 'right' key....

Okay so what Taorn says is probably correct.

How did you get to 7.0 OFW? Did you update via the internet? Because if you updated via the internet you burned your fuses. And I am not an expert but from my knowledge once you burn a fuse you cannot go back to a lower OFW

You can you just have to boot to OFW using a custom boot loader every time.

Okay, finished restoration and confirm it's working fine so far. I am trying to load some games that were originally installed with the unit...

Okay, should be the last update....the key to the whole process is getting the right "key"...which I still have not fully understand. The whole process is 'dangerous' and slow but between the 2 guide you can follow it to the tee...

what does "It appears that pkg1 and pkg2 on your backup are from different firmware version" means? for example i have a raw nand 6.2 bkp and boot00/01 bkp i'm now in 7.0.1 so if i try to restore my nand/boot using hekate it will not work because my pkg1/2 will be in different version?

For my case I was on 7.0 ofw. I did a backup of that then downgrade it to 6.2 with Choi thru the homebrew app. After that I try a restore (nand was 7.0 and that where all the issue started. I don't know enough to say if that is the case if you restore...

If you backup your raw nand and your boot files at the same time, there should be nothing to worry about.
You should also backup your encryption keys if you haven't. That way you can access your backup through various tools, if the need ever arises.
