    WTF do you class as a normal memory card do you mean a SD card or a retail game card WELL IF YOU MEAN EITHER OF THOSE YOU CAN'T! you need a flash cart!

    A Flashcart is a Flashcart which runs whatever kernel and operating system is loaded into it, than it reads whatever data is on the memory card you put into it.

    A "Normal" memory card is i guess supposing on what you mean its a normal DS game in which case, NO!

    can i load the the kernel file on a memory card such as a kingston one

    You need a flashcart. Once you have one of those you need a microSD card. Full-size SD cards will only work on older slot-2 cards which I probably don't recommend.
