Hacking Can this R4 work?

Hi all!

I've been trying to find the answer, but I keep finding contradictory information.

I've been given a 3DS with 8.1 firmware and this R4 card:


Can this card work on that 3DS?

Looks like I have to do un update, but I need a 3ds with an older firmware to do so. Is that right?

It will not work on 8.1. The highest supported firmware is 4.2.0-9: http://www.r4isdhc.com/download_silver/
