Hacking Can my PSP 3000 be saved?

It's a 3000, and I had some PRO-B CFW on it. Left it for a month, then one day I boot it up and it shows the initial setup screen with a broken egg. Now I can't get past it. I tried all recovery menu reboot combinations and it seems the flash is corrupt. Is it done? If there's even a slight chance, I can give to to someone who mods PSPs for repair.

Take out the battery and hold the R shoulder button, then boot it from the charger.
If it enters a recovery menu, you could boot a CFW installer or restore a NAND dump.
If not, you'll have to get a new one I'm afraid.

Does leaving the battery out make a difference?
