Hacking can i update to 9.0 firmware?

I just bought a a used unpatched switch (RCM works) ... I wanted to download fortnite and I link my nintendo account.
When I go to the eshop, it asks me that a system update is required... can I do it?

Not if you want to run cfw rn.
My advice is to set up cfw and emunand and then try doing all of that after you know whats up. Do a lot of reading here first.

... update I guess but at the moment any home-brew is not working on 9.0. so if you want home-brew don't update
