Hacking Can I safely update my 3DS?

So, I have Luma 8.1.1 with FBI, HB, etc. and I want to use the TikShop so I can get the new Pokemon UM but I need to update the 3ds to access the eshop. My question is, should I update it? Will I still be able to use FBI, Homebrew and Freeshop?
