I wanted to softmod a wii that already has a chip. I'm just wondering if there could be any conflict in between, incompatibilities, etc.

As far as the Wii is concerned, the modchip isn't there, it's indistinguishable from an unmodded Wii, only difference is that you have the ability to play burned discs, something that isn't possible on newer Wiis via software only. So it doesn't really matter. If you don't care about burned discs and want to load all your games from USB, you can just pretend the modchip isn't there.

I had installed a Wiikey from day one and never had to remove it in order to softmod. The Wii is still working great till this day since launch date. I second that softmodding is the way to go nowadays.
