Hardware Can a broken headset decrease performance?

Hiya. Ever since my oculus headset stopped working, I’ve been getting terrible performance in vr (I’m still using my headset, and the display rate is trash with the cable in its current state) Can the broken cable decrease performance? Also, should I use that Xbox game mode thingy when running oculus apps?
Side note: I forgot to see if disabling f.lux makes a difference, apparently using it decreases VR performance
