You may want to wait a few months. Intel is releasing new i5 and i7 processors, under the new architecture Sandy Bridge. Benchmarks show they're a lot faster than earlier models of the CPU's, and i've heard that they're more energy efficient (and cooler running) in terms of laptops. If you can wait a bit, you may find better hardware.

Very satisfied so far. If this is any indication of the brand, Lenovo seems to make a solid product. Mine is extremely fast and relatively cool for such a processor. Only sad thing is the battery life. Good thing i didn't buy the laptop in order to remain unplugged though (i usually have a wall jack handy). But yet another good reason to hold off on Sandy Bridge. It will likely be worth it. I'm almost regretful i bought mine so soon, but since it does everything i want anyways, i can't complain. But i do suggest you wait.

If you can wait for Sandy Bridge, please do, you'll be glad that you did.

Otherwise, if you're looking for a mobile/battery life laptop, look for a mobility 425M or 5650 w/ Optimus. If you're looking for a more powerful gaming-ish laptop, you'd want to look at models with a 5850/5870.

General use an i5 dual core should suffice, if you're more into multi-tasking and photo/video editing, those are the sort of tasks that would benefit from an i7-Quad Processor.

newegg and xoticpc are two great sources to look at laptops.

I'd usually avoid them, but I really like this laptop. Overall nice, great sound, quad-core, Nvidia graphics card, just generally good. $900. Not much bloatware, too. Just Mcafee and some dell shit. Easily cleared out.

it is sony vaio E series

the configs are:-
intel core i5 processor 2.66ghz turbo boost upto 2.93ghz
500 gb hard disk drive
4gb ddr3 ram
ati mobilty radeon hd 5650 1gb (but in dxdiag it shows 2733mb)if any solution please reply
15.5 hd led screen
realtek inbuilt speakers
motion eye camera
windows 7 home premium 64 bits
colour silver white
but the battry back up is very less only 2hrs

and it cost me rs 45800 approx $995

is it worth it or shall i do something to upgrade it
