Hacking Buu's Fury has a bug.

This has happened twice now, with different ROMs.
I play the game normally all the way up to the part where you have to go with Goten and Trunks, to fetch the 7 dragon balls.
However, when I go to the Fukurou forest, the gate there (which Goten is supposed to open) does not open at all. When I go near it with Goten or Trunks, it just says, "Goten/Trunks cannot open this gate!"
I can't seem to get past this thing. Anyone had this and know how to fix it?
