You heard the man, start hacking!
This is a few days old now isn't it?
Lovely picture in the wiki though
Well, noone posted this so I thought I'd do it lol
Yeah I was going to post this but never got around (plus I don't usually post DS stuff)
Well great, but hack what exactly?
What objectives really? If it's homebrew, are we gonna have yet another homebrew channel, or simply hacked firmware that allows flashcarts to run?
...It'd be interesting to see DS roms run in native mode instead of compatibility mode too.
DS Roms can't run in native mode, only compatibility mode. This was intentionally done to prevent problems and to make sure DS games run as they should. The games weren't programmed with the DSi hardware in mind so they would either not work or be extremely buggy. In native mode, the apps run under the DSi firmware as if it was an OS while in NDS Compatibility, the firmware acts as a loader, once a game is loaded, the firmware has no more purpose.
so, we can run run DSiware from flashcarts. and given that in normal mode the processor runs at twice the clock speed, people may get the gba emulator they keep asking for
I haven't seen a post about the exact hardware of the DSi. He said the processor is slowed to half speed so the new processor is 133mhz?
Now imagine Quake DSi.
The normal DS one wasn't the best but imagine they would hack the DSi and the author of Quake 2 DS would use the new hardware!
