Burning Dreamcast games

What is better to burn Dreamcast games with? Imgburn or Discjuggler
What are pros and cons.

Pro - they work
Con - sometimes they don't

ImgBurn is easier.
Depends on the CD-Rs and the writing Speed.AND of course of the "source material".

Dreamcast Drives are VERY picky.Personally i only use Verbatim CDs and don´t burn faster than 4x speed.If you got an Dreamcast that can read faster burned CDs (and PLAYS it without errors) it´s ´very nice and good for you.

Slower burn the better, less errors

It has nothing to do with the program.

As said,depends on CD-Rs you use AND burning spped.

That should be alright. Burn at the lowest speed your drive can take.

Okay, most of the Sega Saturn and PS1 games that I have burned 10x work, but some games have lag in cutscenes. Now that I bought a Dreamcast, I am going to test both ImgBurn and DiscJuggler for Dreamcast to see if they have any issues

This can be down to either the media or the drive that you're using. Most of the times it's always the slimline USB drives that you can buy off Amazon which leads to writing plenty of errors and leaving weirdly discoloured rings on the data side. If you want the best burns every time for your games, always go for a full-sized SATA/IDE drive that fits into a drive bay. My personal recommendations are ASUS, LG, or Lite-On.

Imgburn + low speed + good cd's. Also, if your gd-drive is getting picky, it might be wise to recap it. I recapped mine, reading compatibility increased by a lot.

Okay, the only problem is that my PC is a pre-built Lenovo PC, so I can't add the SATA/IDE drive. Also, what is the best SATA/IDE drive?

I haven't yet tried on Dreamcast because it's still arriving in the mail

I keep an old SATA DVD burner around that I have in a USB 2.0 IDE external drive enclosure, using an IDE-to-SATA adapter board. Having IDE bus speeds, it caps my DVD write speed to just 8x, and my CD-R speed to 24x, but also gains me slower burn speeds of 2x for CD and 4x for DVD. Also has LightScribe support, and has modded firmware to be region-free. I'm keeping that drive until it dies, lol.

Back in the day DiscJuggler all the way.
Now I will say imgburn or nero burning rom (old version).
There is a cdi2nrg convert tool to make files for nero.

There were ODEs for under 40$ on Ali. That would be my recommendation in 2025. I added a hard disk to the DC, but that method is not up to date anymore, unless you're looking for a soldering adventure.

Hello.

Usually I am a Fan of CD - R´s and to use it with the original Hardware....but with time and for the actual Situation I must agree...

Do not waste your precious Time with CD-R´s that no longer can be burned with 4x Speed.
If you do not have the Chance to get Hand on an old IDE Burner which capable of 1x / 2x & 4x Speed,please better get an GD-Rom Replacepart like GDEmu or a Clone.

Also...the Dreamcast GD-Rom Drives (Samsung & Yamaha) don't get any better if you feed them with "badly" burned CDRs....
